I don't want to watch this with her. This anime is the literal bane of my existence and I can’t escape it and I don't know how to tell her to tell me to stop watching it with her
My favourite historical ruler is Empress Elizabeth of Russia

What, ew, no. It’s because her reign brought great prosperity and wealth to the Russian Empire. The Winter Palace was commissioned by her and she is most known for leading her troops to battle in the Seven Years’ War against Prussia. Russia has been influenced by Germany for years at that point and she got rid of the German influence, believing Russia should be ruled by actual Russians. She also hated bloodshed and never executed a single person during her entire reign. She is also well-known for draping the palace in luxury with gold and silver and jewels everywhere. She held huge balls a lot and never wore the same dress twice. She never even married.
She is usually portrayed as being a jealous aging woman trying to throw Catherine the Great off the throne when she was young, but she wasn’t like that at all. In fact contemporary reports say that she was the most beautiful woman in Russia.
I really want someone to make an anime or a manga or whatever that’s a typical school slice-of-life comedy romance that features a girl who is literally the perfect woman and wears Victorian loli clothes. Or is just very fashionable. Basically she fills the trope so well that the other characters are convienced she’s actually a cross-dressing boy. The MC makes it their goal to find out their true gender. Then they could have a twin brother who is a perfect gentleman and really charming and flirty and whatnot that everyone thinks is a girl dressed as a boy. Maybe at one point in the story they switch clothes for one reason or another and the MC finally gets to see them naked...only to reconfirm their original suspiscions and embarrassing the twins. It’s a typical romance with MC juggling their crush on the perfect woman and trying to learn if they’re really a girl or not. It would be a parody of those types of stories as well as cross-dressers especially male ones always being portrayed as ‘the perfect woman’ while females are usually ‘the perfect man’
I think it should be called something like ‘My Highschool Girlfriend isn’t Actually a Boy, Right?!’ Or something like that
We still have our Winter Weather Advisory in place from yesterday but I thought they said they canceled it. Oh well. There's so much snow on the ground right now and it looks like it's still snowing though not as heavy as before. Evidently my town was one of the places that got hit with the heaviest snow
I play this game called Dream Boyfriend and a lot of times for daily quests you have to talk to other peoples' Boyfriends which is pretty fun because you can see how the other 'types' react to your Boyfriend's 'type'. One of the conversations you can have with the 'type' that I'm trying to get is something like 'it smells weird in here,' 'oh sorry, that might's been the cheesecake I just ate,'But Mom ruined that conversation for me because she was like: "I don't really get it. Is that suggesting that he's lactose-intolerant?" And now I can never look at that conversation the same way again and it's annoying because that's like the only conversation I ever get for that 'type' now. That or the 'wake up, let's hang out!' 'I'm not asleep....zzzz...we're hanging out...zzzzz.' conversation
I keep thinking my picture is blurry but it's actually not but it looks like it is everytime I post something on actual topics and it's really starting to drive me nuts. It's bugging me so much I'll likely just change it again soon

I still can’t believe the audacity of this one author who reviewed a book taking place during WW2 in Scotland and called it ‘racist and anti-Semitic and inaccurate’ because it focused on Scotland during the war and never really mentioned Jewish people or Nazis or whatever. And that is just the worst thing I’ve ever read. WW2 was not a monolith where everything was Jews VS Nazis. It was far more complex and deep than that. It is called a WORLD war for a reason. Everyone experienced the war differently; Americans and Chinese and Russians and Japanese and Greeks and Italians and Brazilians and Australians and Lithuanians and Ethiopians. Even people in Greenland got a big taste of the war. Even the Axis Powers themselves were very different in their ultimate goals and didn’t even like each other. Thailand wanted to wipe out colonialism because it was the only Asian nation at that time to not have been occupied by a foreign power at any point in its history. Romania and Hungary wanted to rebuild their powerful ancient empires. Japan wanted something similar. Finland joined because it’s the embodiment of Chaotic Evil I guess; it literally had no reason to join.
My point is that you can't call a book anti-Semitic and inaccurate because it portrays a nation in WW2 that wasn’t very concerned with foreign affairs. Scotland was Neutral I believe. WW2 is so much more than just Jews VS Nazis and yet that is all we ever talk about. But evidently society won’t let us talk about any of the other fascinating stories from WW2 if that’s the response they’re going to get
I've never heard of society as a whole saying that. Mostly just arguments over how much of an impact the US had

I see a lot of comments like that whenever people write about other nations in the war or dare to suggest other groups and people got persecuted too: “omg how dare you WW2 was the worst time to be Jewish!!!! Why aren’t you talking about that?!?! Everyone else had it great!!!!”
Maybe it's a minority or I just look in the wrong places.

I find the era really fascinating and wanna write about stuff like a specific event in Italy/Japan relations during the war but stuff like that makes me not want to. Because how dare Japan feel betrayed and start torturing and executing Italian residents/visitors as punishment, am I right?
What WERE the Italy-Japanese relations? I'm not sure about how any of the Axis really felt about each other...

The Axis as a whole really disliked each other and barely communicated. They were just business/military partners and nothing more. However Italy was thrilled with Japan joining the alliance and gave them lots of gifts and wished them luck. Initially Japan ignored Italy and clung to Germany because England disliked Italy for trying to invade Ethiopia and Japan didn't wish to anger England, but the world turned on them after they invaded China. But Italy reassured them they were still friends and Japan started to get very close to Italy after that, offering all kinds of alliances and giving them money. They had also worked together on the same side in WW1. Japan genuinely believed Italy was their best friend and was looking out for them, hence why they likely felt so upset by Italy’s betrayal near the end of WW2. They severed all ties and declared war on Italy shortly after their betrayal and begun mistreating Italian citizens who agreed with who they considered to be a traitor
Japan never really wanted to join the Axis in the first place though due to how isolated they were as a nation and also wasn’t very comfortable with the idea of fighting against England and America who they knew were stronger nations. One Japanese official said ‘if we fight against the United States it would be like fighting against the whole world. Catastrophic results; our people dead, our cities bombed, our fleets sank,’
Yeah, the whole sleeping giant thingI remember Italy and Japan were both actually part of the Allies in WW1. Baffling how things can change like that.

I really wanted to go to the library today but when I started walking there I learned that the main road leading there was blocked off due to construction I think. I tried to look and see if there were any sidewalks available on another side but literally the whole entire area was blocked off. So I just turned around and went home since I didn’t really feel like dealing with that. I know there’s likely some other way to go, but I’d need a map because I don't know the way. And then when I got home my stupid middle brother was like ‘the road isn’t blocked off at all, you’re just blind!’ He hasn't walked down that trail in weeks, he has only ridden the bus downtown which goes a different route. So I’m sorry but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about
Now he’s watching Glee even though he’s literally never shown interest in that show before and it has nothing in it that he’d like I bet you anything his ‘girlfriend’ told him to watch it
My mom and I were watching more Steins;Gate last night but after a while I had to stop and go to bed because I got super bad Deja Vu from the last episode we watched. I have never seen this anime before, never saw any reviews of it, never played the game or saw gameplay. I should not get Deja Vu from this show. And yet I did. It freaked me out really badly that I decided I had seen enough of that show for one night

I wonder if that Nil Adamirai anime is any good. The game sounds really interesting but it hasn't been released in English and I feel as though any playthroughs I find would be incomplete. I heard the anime is actually pretty decent since evidently the game is really long and super info-dump-y while the anime just condenses a lot of plot elements and focuses more on the characters and their relationships. I also want to watch it because it’s historical and takes place in a time period I think isn’t really explored very much unless people talk about the two major events that happened....but there was more to the decade than that. The animation style also looks extremely similar to the game’s art style. But then I remember the game is made by Otomate and I remember how a lot of their other anime adaptations have failed and I find myself asking if it’s even worth it despite everything it has going for it
