Yeah, I'm trying to find it lol The only thing that bothers me is strangely enough the character designs. I know what they're going for, but it's kinda distracting how the girl looks extremely masculine and the boy looks boyish. It makes the series look like a yaoi. When I first heard of the plot, I thought they would look more androgynous or have the girl look softer and more feminine, like a pretty boy if you will. So the audience would be able to tell she was a girl but not the characters.
My mom is being real weird with money lately. And I don't mean being stingy. Like when we went to the movies on Wednesday we ate at Mc'Donald's like we normally do after movies because we don't get snacks and there's a Mc'Donald's down the street from the movie theater. Well I wanted to get an ice-cream and despite Mom being opposed to the idea she still got me one anyway. You could say it's because that was my Christmas present, but we did the same thing last year and when I asked her for an ice-cream she just gave me a dirty look and didn't get me one.
A few days ago I randomly hinted that I'd like to buy a VIP package in this game I really like and instead of declining me Mom said 'well bring me my wallet so I can get my card out, I don't really know how to buy stuff on mobile games but I'm sure I could figure it out,' and actually seemed upset when I did't buy it even when she gave me permission several times. I eventually did end up buying it and she seemed happy.
I asked her for money to go out to eat today while I was at the library and again, even though she seemed annoyed by the idea, she still gave me some money.
I have no idea what's going on. Normally she ignores me or gets irritated when I ask for random stuff like this. And now she's throwing money at me like it's going out of style. What the heck happened? What's wrong with her?

It's just so strange. I even asked her about it several times since you know we're not the most financially-secure family out there but every time I brought it up she'd just say something like 'don't worry about it'

Ugh I don't have time to do that right now though because I want to go home soon. I'm so pissed-off at that though. Not just at the fact that I have to find those GIFs again but also over the fact that I'm going to remake the my entire page from scratch. I don't remember what I wrote aside from cholera being my favourite pandemic. I don't even know who hacked into my page or why but I'm so displeased. At the very least I'm glad it was just my page and my bookshelves and group responses weren't tampered with.
We're getting our Internet back today, though they're coming later on in the day hence why I'm here at the library again
So I'm genuinely trying to be more open about other peoples' ships like Mom told me to be, because she's right, I should be more accepting of others' ships especially because I know a thing or two about my own ships being disagreed with and being mocked for what I ship. I'm genuinely trying to accept more ships. But I'm also starting to slowly realize that I really dislike when a couple in a series is already together, like legit married, and people try to ship their own character or another character with one half of the married couple when the married couple is shown to be happily married together. This isn't too common, I feel, but I see it quite often in this one fandom I'm in and this is why I'm bringing it up now.
It's likely just a personal thing of mine, but I love married couples together and for some reason the thought of someone trying to break up a happy marriage with another character is something that reallllly doesn't sit well with me. Like, if the marriage isn't happy/is abusive, or if it's because of incest or something, I'm more okay with it because it's more justified, but if the characters are genuinely happy together, why would you want to split them up like that?
It's even worse when the couple has children in the series. Like, as if there's anymore proof needed that the couple loves each other. Imagine those children learning about one of their parents having an affair with a stranger. Imagine the other parent also learning about it. It'll tear the family apart and such a thing can severely traumatize a child no matter how old they are when it happens. And that's even assuming the couple would be able to divorce. Having an affair like that can severely traumatize the other parent too, and why wouldn't it? Here's someone who married someone they genuinely loved, whom they thought had mutual feelings, only to learn they weren't 'good enough' for their partner or whatever.
Oh, but that stuff doesn't matter because that other character looks so much 'hotter' with that married person! It doesn't matter if they have kids, they want to let off some steam every once in a while! There's no harm in a little quiet affair on the side! It doesn't seem like their partner is able to pleasure them properly anymore anyway, so why does it matter?
For some reason that kind of thinking really disgusts me and I genuinely don't think I'll ever be okay with shipping someone else with another character who is canonically in a happy marriage with children. I was fuming just typing this. I genuinely do want to be more accepting of ships, but this stuff legit disgusts me. And I'm seeing it more and more.

What exactly do you mean by that? Like an AU where the couple never got married or their partner died?
Had a big fight and never fell in love in the first place, death, never met, anything like that. Not breaking them up to be with another character.
I suppose, as long as the person made it clear that they were just playing around with the idea and didn't bash the other person they married in the actual series, because I've seen a few where people do that idea and then they bash their partner. It has the potential to be funny if they genuinely had a really bad partner, but not if they were truly, genuinely happily married in canon. It's hurtful if it was especially for someone like me who always ships any and all married couples in canon provided they aren't like, abusive obviously.

Yeah, that would be fine. Although the thing that makes me even more mad is that in a lot of these fanfics, the cheating partner isn't acting OOC. They're written really well which of course annoys me further because in the actual series they are given no indication that they wish to have an affair, you know, maybe because they're married happily with children
And I just found a smutty fanfic about a character in this one fandom I'm in who's married having an affair with your character and reading this thing just feels so wrong because the guy keeps thinking about how he's married with several kids but his wife just can't please him anymore and he wasn't even sure he loved her anymore and the main character would be a much better fit for him because she's more in-tune to his desires and it's just really disgusting to me because I genuinely ship the married couple together and never is it ever stated anywhere in canon that the husband wants to leave his wife for an affair, and it's implied that she's the sexually dominant one in the relationship anyway so I'm sorry but try again sweetie It's not even the age difference that makes me mad. I don't really care too much about stuff like that in fiction especially since this takes place in a historical setting and I know that things were different back then. It's how gleefully this person is writing a married father having an affair with someone and kinda disregarding canon as well and for some reason that just makes my skin crawl.
And this person got praised for it in the end!

Someone said the best fanfics and occasionally writers come from characters and ships that aren't talked about very often in their respective fandoms because you never know what might happen until you give things like that a try, and as someone who specializes in stuff like that I wholeheartedly agree. You never know what is possible until you consider lesser-written characters. Even writing about the series from another main character's perspective could open up your mind to all sorts of possibilities you never considered. I'm only upset that regardless of the fandom, unpopular characters are...well unpopular so it's really hard to get likes or even noticed by the majority of the fandom, and a lot of people aren't looking for stuff like that anyway or don't know how.
I was reading an article about childhood 'security blankets' and the physiological hold they have even on their owners as adults and stuff like that and it honestly warmed my heart to hear all of these different stories and to read these comments of people who were adults, well past the age they should have such things who still held onto these toys and blankets and clothes from childhood simply because of the memories associated with them and how much it would hurt them to throw them out. Someone put it best when they said something like 'life is always changing and unpredictable, but he doesn't change. he is always constant and there for me and that's just something I need in my life' and that just spoke so much to me. It genuinely made me feel better and, well, 'less-weird' about still having my old childhood 'lovey' as Mom calls it. While a part of me still hopes that someday I'll be able to get rid of it, a bigger part of me knows that that's probably not likely but that I shouldn't be ashamed of something that brings me comfort, especially since it's not like I'm going out in public with this thing. But it made me feel a lot better to know that people even older than me still have their loveys and sleep with them and pack them for trips and whatnot and that I'm not just being weird.

To be honest I'd probably want Silky to be buried with me too. I believe in reincarnation so I'll likely have Silky with me in the next life of mine, though as something different, but I'm still comforted by the fact of it being in my coffin with me in spite of that, so I have a reminder of this life.
What is wrong with GoodReads today, like at first I thought it was just the Internet in general but no it's just GoodReads messing up as usual

It's surprisingly pretty hard to write about this ship and make it realistic. I know I have that problem with any ship I write about, but this one is harder because it's a one-sided incest ship. But I want the other member of the ship to fall for her brother. I was considering that since the two of them willingly cut themselves off from human contact, she gradually starts to fall for him as he already has fallen for her in canon? And at first she doesn't realize it and just thinks it's normal sibling stuff because they're both pretty young and have had a terrible upbringing? Hence why the brother even developed a crush on her in canon in the first place? That's what I was thinking of doing. I think it'd fit the girl too because she's the sort of person to just soak up love and affection in any form and not question its target because she's so unused to the idea of love itself.

As far as I know, Heaven is just enlightenment. You get reincarnated over and over again until you finally reach that point of enlightenment. And from what I remember, there is a Hell of sorts, but it's reserved for genuinely evil people who did things such as murder in their lives. Normally you just get reincarnated as something terrible in your next life to learn a lesson, but the Hell is saved for those who did nefarious things. They're turned into 'hungry ghosts' who don't have a chance of reaching enlightenment and spend their days haunting the living. There are different spirits depending on what you did in your life and the severity of it, like there's one ghost that has a long neck and a needle-mouth and suffers because it cannot eat anything; one ghost rots everything it touches so it can't eat or drink, one ghost burns everything, and another group of ghosts can eat normally, but they are cursed to eat things such as garbage, feces, vomit, rotten corpses, etc. to humiliate them
The idea of 'hungry ghosts' also only exists in different forms of Buddhism. It's a much more common belief in China and India, for example, and China was the nation that came up with the name 'hungry ghost' I believe, while other Buddhist nations, such as Japan, do not have those beliefs.
I've heard "heaven' is just merging with the universe, kind of like the Force. And I've heard it's a more traditional afterlife, while hell is for nonbelievers.
Really? I haven't heard any of that at all. Maybe it's not in the kind I follow...the bad thing about Buddhism is that it has many different versions depending on the nation and individual and thus a lot of things get lost in translation. There are things shared, such as the belief in reincarnation, but a lot of the smaller things get mixed-up along the way.

Christianity is that way too >.< some sects believe in traditional hell. Some think nonbelievers face oblivion or just separation. Some preach kindness and generosity while others ((unfortunately...and illogically)) preach hate and violence
The one I follow is closer to the Japanese version of Buddhism by the way which has been mixed in with Shinto and Christian beliefs so yeah

Should I join AO3, or Archive of Our Own? I would still keep FanFiction.net as my main account of course but I feel like if I also moved some stuff over onto AO3 I would get more traffic and whatnot. I've seen a few people who have both accounts and post stuff interchangeably on both sites. Plus the tagging makes it easier for people to find specifically what they're looking for, even if they are a bit confusing. They also have more fandoms listed than FanFiction.net and they also have more fanfics in various categories as a result. It's an idea I've been considering for a while now. A fandom I'm in has a following on AO3 but no such following on FanFiction.net. What do you guys think? Is it time to get an AO3 account or not?

To be honest it actually sounds really good because usually romances like that are about a crossdressing girl who falls in love with a straight guy or a crossdressing boy who falls in love with a straight guy.....either way it's always a guy and so it's nice to see something different for a change. Plus I really wanna see more stories about straight girls falling in love with crossdressing boys. I don't think I've ever seen that before. I don't count things like Danganronpa or Assassination Classroom since the stories aren't about that and a character like Nagisa I'm hesitant about calling a 'trap' anyway since he doesn't crossdress on a regular basis or anything
