Eh, I'm willing to give it a chance. Mom's the one who wants to see it more than me and I'm not about to pass up an opportunity to get out of the house.

Besides, I was really averse to seeing both Beauty and the Beast and Coco last year and I ended up enjoying both of them. I've heard this movie is a lot better than what the trailers show so I have my fingers crossed.

I legit forgot how HOT I thought this character was!!! Thank you for reminding me again, Pinterest! I originally was thinking of using him as a face-claim...even if I never actually do, there's nothing stopping me from enjoying his appearance!
How was the movie?
Oh yeah, it wasn't that good lol I mean, it wasn't bad or anything, but the first half was very traditional Nutcracker while the second half was a dark and gritty YA-feel about a war. But the two sides weren't very well-balanced at all. Even Mom disliked the movie. Don't misunderstand, I actually really loved a lot of things about it, but it still didn't give me the Nutcracker experience I've been craving for a while. I don't really think it matters though. Nobody here in this group is literally dying to hear the details or what I personally thought about it.

It's not like you're going to see it though. I'm pissy because I wanna use that idea of four magical realms for my own retelling of the Nutcracker but now I can't because of that movie. Mom says since it was a box-office bomb, I'll be safe but I don't know lol
Who cares whether i want to see it or not? I want to know what my friend thought because I care about this kind of stuff.That sucks though :\
Well, it started out really good, but then halfway throughout the movie they tried to be really gritty and dark with a plot about a war, but they didn't do a very good job with that and it didn't mesh very well with the opening of the movie. I'm a bit more easy-going towards the movie than I thought because out of all the Nutcracker retellings I've seen, this one really does try to capture the original feeling of the Nutcracker, but I guess they thought that wouldn't sell so they tried to change the story halfway through. But oh man, that first half! THAT is what a Nutcracker retelling should be!! They even gave her the two siblings she had in the original book instead of following the ballet's version and gave them their proper names from the book! And it actually managed to capture the spirit of Christmas and the story too....they really did have something and then they just decided to throw it all away. And for what? They still lost a ton of money from this film, so I think they should've just kept what they started with.
I also hate how they made the Sugar Plum Fairy evil. I saw it coming the moment she showed up and I was still hoping they'd do something different with it because in every single retelling of the Nutcrakcer they make her evil. I'm so sick of it! They only do it because she's normally all sugary and sweet and pink...why can't she just be that? The original story already has a villain!
I also like the Four Realms themselves and how they looked and how they were all modeled after Russia, and how they explained why Clara was crowned queen of that realm, and how they were all originally toys before being brought to life, and I also liked how they made Clara be an inventor and actually have it relevant to the plot instead of just doing it to make her seem 'quirky' or whatever.
Like this movie literally had everything right there in front of it to be a good, original yet faithful retelling of the Nutcracker that set it apart from all of the other versions, and it could've made a lot of money! But they threw that all away, and again, for what? It's like that meme of the guy throwing the bowl of cereal. I'm nicer to it because it really is a dime a dozen when compared to other horrible Nutcracker retellings, but don't misunderstand-this movie left me feeling worn-out and stale. So much wasted potential and that is the thing I hate the most about stories. You can have the best story, characters, writing, whatever, but I'll bash you for wasted potential because oftentimes that's the easiest thing to take advantage of especially in a story like this.
We won't have Internet for a few days because of the stupid incompetence of our cable company. I'm proud of my mom though because she literally spoke to the high-up manager about it and she normally doesn't like to make a bother over stuff like that.

I told my mom about a romance manga and I think the plot of it broke her because she has been thinking about how a ship like that would even work and now I'm mad at her because now that's the only thing I've been thinking about too lol She specifically wanted to know how they'd have sex and I told her they'd just have sex normally but she kept questioning how it'd work and it'd be confusing because of their clothes and I told her that was kind of the point
What is the plot?
It's about a girl who's the 'prince' of her all-girls' school because she dresses like a boy and is the head of a girls' rock band. She crosses paths with and eventually befriend the 'princess' of their rival school, an all-boys' school where their 'princess' is a boy who dresses like a girl who asks to join her band. Naturally they fall in love and it's literally just like a typical romance manga except it's with a boy who looks like a girl and a girl who looks like a boy. That's what Mom was making fun of lol
