~Look Down, You're Talking to Your Highness~[R]

I guess I can't really write about anything...all of my book ideas involved someone from another nation in some way or another....

Frankenstein is set in sone place in Central Europe. Like Switzerland I think? Either way, Mary Shelly was born in England.

But people didn't really care back then because it was just the thing for white people to write about other cultures. Nowadays we have a lot better access to people from other cultures and it's considered to be really rude for white authors to write about cultures that aren't their own because they're taking that chance from an author from that actual nation.
Besides, things like Frankenstein aren't really about the nation they take place in. My books are literally historical fiction. They are literally about the nation I am writing about. Therefore, it's different.

Okay, well what about Rick rRoardan? He's not Greek, Roman, Egyptian or Viking yet wrote of their cultures.
And Ruta Sepetys! Yeah she's Lithuanian but was she ever in a Soviet gulag? Was she on a sinking German ship in WW2? She's not from 1950's New Orleans so when she wrote Out of the Easy, she went and did *research* to get it right.
The idea that people can only write about their culture is incredibly stupid, pointless, bigoted and other negative, intellectual adjectives.
You
Do
You

Technically she's half-Lithuanian. But she's still writing about her culture because she was likely brought up with a Lithuanian lifestyle. And part of the reason why she wrote what she did was because of her father. Like in Salt to the Sea, her father was one of the passengers on that ship. That is why it's so important to her; he was fleeing from the Soviets who had taken over his country, which is one of the reasons why she wrote her debut novel.

Okay, well she still wrote Out of the Easy which is still 1950s New Orleans and she had to visit to do research.

Like how do I know there isn't already a Lithuanian version of my debut novel out there, written by a Lithuanian that just hasn't been translated into English because who would translate that?

If anyone gets so salty about you writing a story because you're not of a certain race or whatever, thats literally racist and they need to shut their traps.

And dont even get my started on Magic Tree House

My ex-boyfriend was obsessed with both of the series though.

She also told me the cashier was a huge fan of the games and started talking to her about them, glad to see another fan and he said he had seen all of the animes and watched all of the routes online and that he was sad that she wasn't able to get the first two for me.

A lot of people have gotten back in touch with me after seeing my comments on their fanfics since I tend to comment on less-popular fanfics, and it makes me so happy to see how much I've brightened up somebody's day. Perhaps this is what the universe meant when it told me something good would happen if I did this. Well, fair enough, since I enjoy making people happy.

There's nothing wrong with taking a side character, especially a woman, and making her more interesting, like I love all the retellings of Dracula that feature Mina Harker as her own woman who gets to help the men fight Dracula, and I love the idea of an Elizabeth Frankenstein who helps Frankenstein with his monster, or becomes some other kind of scientist, but it doesn't seem like this book does that.
But perhaps I'm being too harsh and unfair to the book. After all, I just read the summary and some reviews, and I think we can all agree that reviews aren't always the most reliable sources on a book's content.
I mean, it won't be complete sacrilege if they ruin Elizabeth Frankenstein's character, but she's one of my favourite classic literary heroines from that period and the book itself has been a huge part of my life growing up too. So I think it's safe to say that I would be pretty annoyed if they completely miss the point of the original story by reducing Elizabeth and Victor to typical YA tropes that are popular to rely on when they retell classics like this. Like I could go on a whole spiel about how Elizabeth is actually pretty interesting and important despite her screentime in the original and how her death completely and utterly destroys Frankenstein, but this isn't the time nor place so I won't, lol
I'll still read the book, I'm still excited for it since I really do like retellings of classic novels and I also enjoy the original Frankenstein too. I just hope it won't be too tropey if you catch my drift.

Basically a few years ago I had a dream about this boy who goes to school on another planet after he lands there-it was some sort of agreement to keep the peace. He meets one of the locals on the planet and falls in love with her, etc. The dream was in the perspective of the boy.
This time, I dreamed in the perspective of the girl falling in love with the boy and learned that even though she looks really different from a human, she and the other people in her city are all humans who fled Earth years ago due to a disaster and decades of living on another planet changed their physical and mental appearances; the boy of course never actually learns this until he finds a piece of really human-like technology in her room. It's never really explained how or where the boy fit into this, like did he come from another universe, did he come from a rebuilt Earth, or did he come from the future, but it doesn't really matter.
I know it's not really the most original idea for a sci-fi novel out there, but it hasn't been done recently to my knowledge and I really like the sci-fi trope of humans visiting another planet full of aliens only to learn those aliens are actually evolved humans.
Even if I never write it, it was still a lot of fun to have that dream. I very rarely have sci-fi dreams due to the kind of person I am, so everytime I have one I savor it.

But it's really not that big of a deal. It's not like I actually comment or anything while I'm on her account because I'm not stupid. And I hardly use Reddit anyway. I'm not a big fan of the community.

I'm not allowed on there but I end up there anyway, mostly due to looking stuff up about games or movies.

And this isn't really a complaint about the community but ever since they changed their layout the site has become really confusing to navigate. I feel like if I made an account I would be really lost for days, trying to figure out how to make a post, upvote, or even just make a comment on a topic.

Which is weird because Star Wars in recent years has become one of the most toxic places in the galaxy.

Just to name a few of the stuff that happens in my fandoms lol

They also that forget Luke was a whiny brat that screwed up all the time and whine that they were cheated out of an epic Force duel in TLJ, that the entire movie was just SJW propaganda and ugh.
I feel like I've stepped onto Hutta whenever those things come up. Hutta being a planet that was poisoned by industry with toxic waste dumps turning the whole planet into a puke green swamp.

Well, dieselpunk is like the one that comes in the middle; it focuses mainly on the 1930's to the 1940's. It focuses on diesel being used as fuel to power things like cars, airships, weapons, etc. It's also pretty gritty and darkly-coloured like steampunk. However you barely ever see it. Mom always cites Legend of Korra as being dieselpunk and that is the best example she can come up with. I see it a little bit, but always focused on a war setting. I want to see more dieselpunk that....isn't focused on war if you know what I mean?
Hence why I'm having trouble dressing these characters. I was thinking of dressing them in 1930's outfits that are really darkly-coloured, like dark green and brown and stuff, but I'm not sure.
But that's what dieselpunk is lol

I think Fallout is a mix of diesel and atompunk, buuuut the whole premise is about war and how humans never change :P

I told her my Ultimate OT3 will be made atompunk next and I told her the character she thinks is ugly will be made into an atompunk cyborg, and she said that's okay because atompunk robots look really silly anyway lol

Oh wow they do :D

Right now my current design is a 1930's tea dress in a pale green with a matching flower on his head, but the dress is shorter than normal and underneath it he has jeans and work boots on, but that doesn't look very good....and don't even get me started on the cyborg aspect lol

"Hello there! Is there anything I can help you with, Madame and Sir?" She asked formally, tilting her head. Mitsuba and Yoichi both blushed when they realized she recognized their uniforms; if they had shown up in regular clothes she likely would've been more casual.
"We just came in here for some recovery shopping!" Yoichi laughed awkwardly. "Uh....like dresses and stuff? Things girls like?"
Mitsuba's face fell. He had no idea what girls liked at all!
Still, the woman smiled. She had bright orange hair that was curled into a bob and sparkly green eyes. A healthy sprinkle of freckles was on her face. "How lovely! Buying a present for your little lady friend, hm? A little treat to reward her for being such a faithful soldier?"
"Hey! I'm ranked above him!" Mitsuba snapped in annoyance, her blush growing.
"Just something to cheer her up," Yoichi added nervously, his whole face blushed a bright red.
"We're not as old as you probably think we are! I mean, he's older than I am!"
"C-Can we just look around for a bit?" Yoichi covered his face up in embarrassment. The woman nodded.

I just know that nobody wants me to do that. If they did, I would've gotten a bunch of commissions and requests at this point. The first and only time I ever wrote a fanfic for someone else was when I did that artswap with my mom, and she hated what I wrote her with a burning passion.
So that's lowered my self-esteem about writing stuff for people, not to mention I feel like I'm very limited in what it is I can actually write about. I didn't even know fanfic commissions were a thing until this morning.
But I still want to do some fanfic commissions.....if anybody was willing.....?

Me, typing this in extreme darkness: "Are you sure about that?!"

Lol I'm actually going to do it...probably. If I can put it in the story naturally.

And if you try to look up 'cholera mask' that's all you'll find
But like I said, they just look like carnival masks with extremely over-the-top designs. The only difference is what they're being used for.
