Like let people live their lives, damn. If you keep converting them instead of letting them come into the religion on their own, they will get scared off and you have failed in your goal. I'm literally shivering right now from how cold my room is. The heat would be welcome.
Our AC is busted so it's like 80 inside.
We actually have a statement saying heat exhaustion will be possible....but I'm not afraid. I'm way less afraid of heat than I am of the cold. I've gotten outside on days when we've had heat warnings but I will never go outside when we have wind chill warnings.

Because I go to the library and the library has the AC on during the summer and I get cold extremely easily if I'm there for a while in like a tank top and shorts. So I dress warmly or bring a jacket so I'll stay warm in the freezing library.

Someone posted an update on my homepage and I was surprised to find myself agreeing with them. They were talking about how this one male character in a novel was portrayed as being strong, but not physically strong; mentally strong, being courageous, patient, and having strong self-control and a strong belief in his faith no matter what. Now, I'm not a Christain, obviously, but I do agree that true strength, regardless of gender, isn't how physically strong you are. It is how mentally strong you are, how determined you are to protect what is right even in the face of adversity, to never back down, to be respectful and kind and genuine with everyone you meet. That is true strength. And it is strength anyone can have regardless of gender or race or whatever. It's very beautiful and not weak at all. I wish more people were like this.

One of the things that scares me the most about being an author, even more than publishing and whatnot, are people blacklisting me because they consider me problematic. I am so afraid because I know people are going to see my super white-ass name on the cover of a book and then read it and find out almost all of my protagonists are Eastern European or Japanese and say I'm unqualified to write about those cultures because of who I am. I am afraid they will dislike me because I am one of those people who if asked at an event if my characters are gay or bi or whatever, I will answer in the postive but not actually go into that in the book. Hell, in my debut novel I kill off the only gay person in the book!!! They will never give me another chance after that!! And I don't know what to do....I don't want to be blacklisted as being problematic. That is one of the swiftest deaths an author can die, even moreso than people just disliking your book, because if you're listed as being problematic, it is all over for you. People won't support you. They'll spread the word and their friends won't buy your books. They'll slander your name on every single social media they can get their hands on. And there is literally nothing you can do about it.
Saying you can't write about Eastern Europe or Asia because you're a white American is racist. There is no other word for it. While they're at it, ask if we should shame African Americans for speaking ENglish since that came from white culture and they're unqualified. See how quickly they shut up.

It feels icky to me though because we took their land. We pretty much eradicated them and did all sorts of horrible things to them, and then we want to wear their clothes? They're showing The Last Jedi at the library today.
