Well Gatorade is typically used to restore electrolytes. AKA, important stuff your body loses when you vomit and have diarrhea. That's why I'm always made to drink it after a stomach bug to replace them, because your body can't function with too few electrolytes. Now back when cholera was a problem, doctors tried the weirdest 'cures' to try and help the patients out. However what finally worked and helped them recover was a concoction made by a Russian doctor that had sugar and salt mixed into water. It replaced the missing electrolytes and helped the patients recover faster.
Gatorade has the same stuff in it, and we probably wouldn't have it if that Russian doctor didn't lay down that groundwork.
As for wishing wells, people noticed that when you threw certain coins into wells back then, when you fished them out they'd be shiner than when you threw them in. People naturally believed that well water was thus cleaner than the regular water they drank, and many people sick with cholera were given well water to drink and many other people wished in wishing wells for cholera to pass them by. Whether the well water was actually cleaner or not, that practice helped wishing wells become super popular because everyone wanted to drink the water and wish upon them. So people started building them everywhere.
I knew it restored electrolytes and that's why athletes use them, because electrolytes are lost in sweat. I didn't know they were lost due to those. I just thought it was a sports drink :p

You can lose electrolytes due to sweating, but it's nothing compared to how much you lose when you have a stomach bug. People always say diarrhea is the big killer, but you can get very weak if you just vomit a bunch and then don't replace what you lost.

Oh wow, what'd you think would happen if you asked me, a die-hard CielxElixabeth shipper that question? Well let's start with CielxSiegfield
For starters, she's younger than Ciel, which is interesting. She's about twelve but already a lot more....sexually aware, I guess I should say. Even though they have cute interactions, I don't see Ciel caring for her any more than as a friend, and possibly another pawn in his game. However the latter is unlikely because she's not part of his inner circle. She might have a crush on Ciel after he saved her life, but it's one-sided. So no, I don't think they'd be endgame. We haven't seen Siegfield in forever, so while I don't think she's dead, I highly doubt she's going to be important to the plot later on.
So final verdict: Very, very cute, I want to see more fanart or fanfics of them. However any love that exists is completely one-sided and ultimately Ciel views her more as a means to an end.
Now onto CielxElizabeth
Elizabeth is older than Ciel, and has more life experience than he does. Not sexual, but she definitely does seem more aware of how the world works and has been toughened as a result. She lost her uncle and aunt, her fiance and for the longest time she thought she lost her friend too. However, she is able to take care of herself and probably wouldn't even need Ciel if it wasn't Victorian England. Ciel definitely cares for her as a friend, and I'd argue he's even in love with her. Elizabeth cares for him and certainly loves him back, even being his bodyguard alongside her brother. Ciel most likely sees her as a pawn too despite his love, since he knows that once everything is over, she most likely won't be with him anymore. However, black Butler is known for its twists and turns, so perhaps Ciel will find a way to thwart Sebastian and get the life he wanted, including a marriage to Elizabeth.
So final verdict: I love them so much, they're canon, I want all of the fanart and fanfics. They both love and care for each other very much, however Ciel is also using Elizabeth as means to and end, and Elizabeth most likely knows this as well. However, she will follow him to the ends of the earth, and Ciel has disregarded rules and regulations just to get closer to Elizabeth.
