You remember that tornado from Moore, Oklahoma? I believe that was produced by a supercell that had multiple areas of rotation in it.
As usual, Mom doesn't care and is no help. She says I need to stop being so scared of storms. She says if I studied more about how storms form and why they happen, I'd be less scared, but I do know a lot about storms and how they form! This storm system is being formed because a large warm front off the coast is mixing with a colder updraft in the Midwest; they mixed and are creating these violent storms because the air is unstable. It will bring in cooler weather for next week.
But knowing how storms form doesn't really make you feel any better.
That doesn't make sense. Knowing how storms isn't really knowledge for knowledge's sake but it doesn't help make them less scary. In fact it can make them MORE scary because many are unpredictable and can form at any time >.<
She says she has no idea why I make such a big deal out of storms which she says are harmless almost all of the time anyway.
That's a dangerous way of thinking. Like saying lions and tigers are just big housecats if they don't attack you on sight.
She says in her childhood she survived a bunch of tornadoes and therefore she knows most storms don't produce them, which....confuses me?
Well she's seen a lot of tornadoes, but says that that proves most storms don't produce tornadoes. It just confuses me because....shouldn't it be the opposite? I guess it's hard to explain.

The weather forecast has changed, but not in the way I was hoping for:
At the bottom it gives more information: Severe weather and heavy rainfall will impact central Indiana this afternoon into tonight as a strong cold front moves through the region. Large hail will be the main initial threat during the afternoon and early evening, with damaging winds becoming the primary threat through the rest of the evening. A few tornadoes are possible as well, most likely during the late afternoon and early evening. The threat for severe weather will last well after sunset on Sunday night. In addition, heavy rainfall may cause localized flooding late this afternoon and tonight across central Indiana. A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for areas near and north of Interstate 70 from 12 PM through 4 Am Monday. Stay Weather Aware today and tonight and have multiple ways to get weather warnings and information.
The TOR:CON for my state today is 5. That means there's a 50% chance of a tornado forming within a certain radius. That's pretty high.

my gosh

What it sounds like, TORNADO:COUNTER. It measures how probable a tornado is within a thirty-mile radius. The higher the number, the bigger the percentage, like 1 is 10%, 2 is 20%, 3 is 30%, etc
HOw do you do it? :pI got up a little before 7. According to the digital clocks, so really close to 6.
I literally just woke up and found out we had a severe thunderstorm warning, flood watch, tornado watch and tornado warning XP
Mom: "Do you even know what a tornado is? They're tiny, they can't spread over a large place like a hurricane can. So even if one did happen in Bloomington, the odds of one happening in this exact area are slim," Me: "But tornadoes can move!"
Mom: "You don't understand my point,"

IDK man, that looks pretty big...and hurricanes usually kill less people because they're in the ocean for days before hitting land so people have time to appear.
The Great Tri STate tornado traveled over 200 miles across...well, three states.
She meant that tornadoes aren't big enough to engulf an entire town like a hurricane can, so even if one did form in Bloomington, well Bloomington is a huge enough town that it probably wouldn't come to our exact location.
I hate how my brothers won't stop screaming and fighting with each other, I'm legit trying to remain calm during all of this but they're making it extremely hard to.

Still you should treat it like it might hit you.

No such thing exists in this house. Our walls aren't soundproof. Even if I shut my door I'd still hear them.
It's still cloudy, but it's lightened up a bit and sprinkling rain. It's quiet outside. I'm not going to enjoy it though because that was just round one, there's another round of storms coming later.
It's like how when you're sick and you puke, you have lots of rounds of it. The first one is always the worst.
