Now read book 4 of the Ghost Hunter series by Jayne Castle:Silver Master - review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2108842657.
And book 5 of the Ghost Hunter series by Jayne Castle: Dark Light - review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2169897988.
Caught up with my reviews at last and am 'only' 24 books behind schedule. The book I'm now reading is book 6 of the Ghost Hunter series by Jayne Castle, the last one I have - Obsidian Prey.
They are OK Desley, though I wasn't so keen on the one with the journalist, probably should've given that a 2. Anyway, this is the last I have and I won't bother to get any more, but I quite enjoyed this one, enough to keep (only kept the first 2 otherwise).
Read number 6 in the Jayne Castle Ghost Hunter/Harmony series - Obsidian Prey - and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2169952866.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "At least you enjoyed it enough to finish"yes! Funny you should say that .....
a rare DNF for me - The Book of Kells by R A MacAvoy - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/941468.The_Book_of_Kells.
Re-read Anne McCaffrey's Dragonflight and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1444115513. Glad I enjoyed it as I was a bit disappointed when I re-read the first part, which won a Hugo for novella, in The Hugo Winners 1968-1970 earlier this year. Anyway, got into the story much better this time and love the dragons, and although Lessa can be a bit childish at times and F'lar really patronising, the story and the dragons carried it off.
Read The Grey Horse by R A McAvoy and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1649453442.Also read The Changeover by Margaret Mahy and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2186487449.
Am currently reading my own book through to catch any last minute discoveries of continuity errors and to check it formatted OK on Amazon. Only problem with the latter so far is it made the 'beginning' page the second page of the table of contents. Don't know why as I set that to the first page of chapter 1 in the epub I uploaded.
Still reading my own book and making a few tweaks, up to the end of chapter 22.As light occasional reading, I have managed a couple of supernatural tales, The Pet by Charles L Grant - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2198127903 and The Fetch by Robert Holdstock - review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2198127903.
When I checked just now, I have read 105 books of my challenge, and am now 31 behind. Ho hum.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "105 is impressive"Thanks Desley. Glad you appreciate me even if GR doesn't ;-)
Finished this a couple of days back but only just had time to review - The Face In The Abyss by A Merritt - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1649443296.
Re-read Charmed Life by the late great Diana Wynne Jones after many years and didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped, as the whole thing depends on a failure to communicate which, on the part of the adults at least, seems inexcusable. Review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1366155155.
Read The Lives of Christopher Chant number 4 in the Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones, which is set years before the first one, and enjoyed it more - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2210202653.
Read Gate of Ivrel by C J Cherryh and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2219392175.
A short read by M C Beaton - A Highland Christmas - which I've reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2219430295.
Well, after posting those three reads, GR tells me I've read 112 books of my 150 challenge - and I'm still 33 behind. That's motivating, isn't it? Thought I might at least have gone down to 31 behind!!
Read two more Morgaine books by C J Cherryh since the above:Book 2 - Well of Shiuan - review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2219441259.
Book 3 - Fires of Azeroth - review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2225417471.
For some weird reason, in My Books, this isn't showing up at the top of my read page because it keeps deleting the date read from the list view. Tried several times adding it but then a refresh blanks it again.
Thanks Desley. Not sure what it is now saying, anyway I've just posted a review for the last book I completed in 2017 - had started a couple of others. The Flesh Eater by John Gordon. Reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2240881340.
Checked and I didn't 'complete' the 2017 challenge as I only managed 115 books out of the 150 goal. First time that's happened. So I have set up the 2018 challenge for just 100 books.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "What a shame you didn't complete the challenge"Yes I know - Goodreads doesn't give any credit ... it just shows as a link which when I go into it shows I read 115 of 150 books and what they are, but there is no 'completion' logo on the challenges page. I was only 35 books short so I thought should have had some acknowledgement!
