The link is taking me to the top of this topic. I found it here and as much as I like travel reads I have read none of them and only heard of a few;

What did we miss in 2017, that we should have read?

Here is a list:

The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley was already on my TBR as well as Savage Country which was well reviewed by Michael and BnB.

Moving the Palace and Piecing Me Together both pique my interest.

Interesting list! The only one I've read was the The Complete Stories of Leonora Carrington. I've been looking forward to Mrs. Caliban but my library hasn't bought it yet.

Moving the Palace sounds right up my alley and would fit with Nicole R's challenge.

The 57 Bus: A True Story of Two Teenagers and the Crime That Changed Their Lives
, sounds interesting, but I'm not sure if I can read it.

Say Western and I almost feel compelled to read it, so In the Distance sounds compelling (;p) https://www.amazon.com/Distance-Herna...

Swallowing Mercury has hit the radar list

Of course, The Western Wind caught my eye, one of my favorite sub genres, medieval mystery.

I'm going to have to look at this list more carefully.

There was also a 2nd book by the author of he Yellow Birds and I remember how much you liked it.

I'm excited by the new Michael Ondaatje. And Melmoth by Sarah Perry. I loved her Essex Serpent so much.

I saw the Ondaatje and was excited about that as I've liked everything I've read by him.

And I'm so excited about the Powers(Yellow Birds) book, A Shout in the Ruins I preordered it. I love that the setting is the Civil war.

I'll have

Denizen (den13) | 566 comments Well, the pressure is on to read Pullman's first book in his new trilogy as the second is released in October. I'll be watching for BnB's review of The Western Wind. The Ondaatje should get plenty of early attention so feedback will be plentiful.

I need to move The Essex Serpent on to my new priority list - shorter than my way too long "short list".
