Let's start the new year with another new feature in the ATY groups: Buddy Reads!
We wanted to give you the opportunity to partner up to read some books, because sometimes we want to discuss a book in more details or just give ourselves a little push to read more regularly.
What is a buddy read? ★ A buddy read is the act of reading a book along with somebody else, or multiple people. ★ This involves a schedule, which you are free to set together, but that is meant to be respected. There's no point in reading together if one person has already read 200 pages, and the other 20. ★ It can involve questions or discussion topics, like in a book club, but it's not mandatory. That is something you'll want to discuss with your buddy or buddies in the Organization topic, because not everyone wants to come up with and answer to questions. ★ Like in this group, a buddy reads implies respect, so use those spoiler tags please! (see the "some html is ok" button on top of the comment box).
How will the buddy reads work here? I've created 4 topics in the Buddy Reads folder: ★ Info, rules and questions: this topic, where you can ask questions. ★ Find your buddy: where you'll be able to look for someone to read a book with. ★ Groups organization: where you'll be able to talk organization with your buddies, like how many pages to read per day, week, when to read the book, how you want to communicate, etc. ★ Wild discussion: where you'll be able to find moral support, talk about this project, etc.
We thought it best that you carry the book discussions in the book topic in the A-Z folders, to have all the discussions for one book at the same place and to give other members the opportunity to participate in the discussions.
I'm saving the next message for a FAQ, so don't hesitate to ask questions about this new feature! I'm also new at this, so it's highly possible that something won't be clear or thought through ;)
