I think it is very strange that I didn't read any books for this in 2016! I'm sure I have many that qualify. I'm reading Planetfall for a book club this year, and it looks like it will count. Any other suggestions?

Cheryl (6of8) | 247 comments I have several Star Trek books on my shelf (specifically, Star Trek Voyager) and I think at least one takes place on another planet.

If you haven't read it, I cannot speak highly enough of The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell, a large portion of which takes place on another planet.

Ah, I do have The Sparrow on my TBR list. I haven't seen my copy in a while, though, so it is likely still in a box in the garage. :-/

Everyone I know who has read The Sparrow loved it and, like me, has recommended it to other people. It is worth digging through the boxes to find it and read it.

Laura | 144 comments I'll second The Sparrow. I'm not a sci-fi reader, generally, but I quite liked it.

Cheryl (6of8) | 247 comments I completed this one with The Dark Lady, which is set on several planets and told from the point of view of an alien.

It also had a woman on the cover.

That sounds really interesting. Did you like it?

Cheryl (6of8) | 247 comments I did. It was the kind of story where you hope for a supremely happy ending and get one that is more realistic. It was well told.

Mary Arkless | 153 comments I have just finished "Treaty Planet" by Anne McCaffrey and Jody Lynn Nye. I've had this on my TBR shelf for probably nearly 20 years! I bought it when I was living in Hamburg, and paid a rather pricey sum of DM 20.00 for it, as it is in English.

I really liked Planetfall. This prompt is showing up on at least one other challenge this year, and there's a local book club discussing The Sparrow next week, so I'll try again to locate my copy of that. I'm also reading The Best of All Possible Worlds this month for a different local book club, and so far it looks like it will count.

Cheryl (6of8) | 247 comments Melydia and I were just discussing The Sparrow tonight, since we both loved it. One of my "best boojs ever".

Dangit, I still can't find it. I spent almost an hour in the Archives (aka the garage) last night, with no luck. Ah, well, it will turn up eventually, I'm sure.
