Truth is often stranger than fiction - but writers like to use true stories for their inspiration when writing fiction.

Nancy Regan Operation Thunderbolt Flight 139 and the Raid on Entebbe Airport, the Most Audacious Hostage Rescue Mission in History by Saul David by Saul David Saul David

I knew how it ends before I picked it up, yet the last 100 pages flew by as I waited almost breathlessly for the outcome. David exhaustively researched the 8 day hijacking of Air France Flight 139 in July of 1976, then laid it out elegantly in this fine book. The brother of current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is one of the key figures in the rescue of the 102 hostages from their Ugandan airport prison. It's non-fiction (noted because the category description might imply a work of fiction even though the category title doesn't) and a most satisfying read.
