What the... ???? OMG!! Did he lose brain cells? Was there an accident?? Did he hit his head?? Did he have a stroke??? I'm... I'm... speechless. Why?????? Why would an author do that???
Mary wrote: "Do my eyes deceive me or have I just read that there was a story out there where Darcy and Elizabeth didn't have a shared HEA??? In fact, she wasn't even mentioned in said story?? Pointless!"
I know....I always assumed that a HEA for ODC was a guarantee in JAFF. I didn't finish the book and I did leave a comment for the author...How could he do this? Forbidden in my book.

Ew! Ew! Ew!!!! NOOOOOOOO!!

263.) A Year and a Day by Michele A. - Unpublished, 90 pages., 4.5 stars, MA. "Darcy leaves for the Continent after his illfated proposal to Miss Elizabeth Bennet, but a happy family event reunites them a year later." https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2959836/...
264.) You Don't Know Me. I don't have a link as the story was sent to me as a pdf. It is a 12 chapter, modern, P&P variation with very low angst but definitely MA. What was very pleasing is that the author used the words of various songs as part of the story. Darcy would sing to her in various places or the words just fit what one or the other was thinking/feeling....the Way You Look Tonight. She/he included links to the songs on YouTube.

265.) What We Bear By gretomy: PP, Regency, MA. 4.5 starshttp://meryton.com/aha/index.php?show...
This 264 page unpublished story has much to do with Elizabeth's struggle, first - just to physically survive the worst of abuse from a husband who has seduced the entire Bennet family into taking his word and actions over hers and secondly to attempt to overcome the PTSD that his acts and words have inflicted upon her. Darcy meets her after she has been married about a year and despite knowing she is married and out of his reach, falls completely in love with her and she with him. Unfortunately, Mr. Bennet realizes this and writes to her husband with near deadly results.
I like angst in my stories but BE WARNED, this is one which is very heavy and may tear at your heartstrings...NO...Will Tear at your heartstrings.
Debbie gave it 5 stars and it was only 126 pages so an easy read. I will post a review sometime today. I finished it last night so was not up to post a review at that time.
I won it and it just arrived... so I will be jumping on it soon. I have an appointment today and need to be in town. So, I will start it later. I will go ahead and load it up so it will be waiting for me when I return. Looking forward to reading it. Woohoo!! See you in the reviews!!

I can understand why there are those who would not want to read about this and so I posted those "warnings". I used to be a caseworker with Children, Youth and Families and had to deal with such in real life so, although hating the actions, can better accept that some authors will write of it. At least this author did not give details as it happened...more the results of such.
I just marked it to read -- I will be prepared for the lack of light and fluffy. Thanks for the warning.

268.) Stealing Darcy: A Pride and Prejudice Variation 5 stars - Second reading - although I now find I think the ending is rushed.
269.) True North by Damaris, Unpublished, about 96 pages, http://c19.proboards.com/thread/31661..., a North and South continuation from the end of the movie with RA. 4 stars
I didn't do any reading either, Sheila. I had relatives in from out of state and I was late getting my Christmas cards out, so I worked on them. Life has its requirements. However, I'll have plenty of reading time once winter sets in.
273.) A Singular Proposition: Tanya’s “A Singular Proposal” is a Regency adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. This was a rereading.https://fanlore.org/wiki/A_Singular_P...
274.) It Happened One Christmas 5 StarsBy Caitlin Williams
http://austenvariations.com/advent-da...
This is part of Austin Variations' Advent Calendar with delightful stories or activities to do daily.
275.) Mr Darcy - A Man of Honour By: Jadie47: This story asks the questions; What if Darcy was first interested in Jane Bennet and what if Miss Jane was not what she seemed to be? 41 chapters. This unpublished story has a Jane Bennet whom you will not recognize. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12309389...
Probably a 4 as there was little real romance between any of the couples. I really was disappointed that it was not played up when ODC finally revealed to each other that they loved them. Jane's role was played up - big time and everyone around her in the end realized how "beauty is only skin deep" and "don't judge a book by its cover" are oh so true. She learned how to act early in her life and how to shed a few tears and get her way while appearing to be the maligned party.
If Goodreads had a link I would post a full review but I didn't find one.
I'm reading it right now and it is as sterile as a scalpel. However, I am really liking this Caroline... I know... who knew. I am missing the romance.
I agree... you know, if it wasn't for Caroline... I'm not sure I could endure this. She has kept me interested and wondering what will happen next. This Jane is a piece of work. I can see how this situation could happen... in fact, it is action driven by Mrs. Bennet antics. This is exactly what would have happened had Mr. Darcy even given Jane a sideways glance in canon. Mrs. B would have been on him like a duck on a June-bug.
Read to the end as Jane is even worse as the ending draws nigh! Hard to imagine. Where the authors get these ideas. Using canon names but the actors are not our dear people...but I admit I read a lot of historical romances before I discovered JAFF. Had my favorite authors there also.Judith McNaught
Kathleen Woodiwiss
Jennifer Blake
And many more.
276.) Against Her Will By: Astonishment (unpublished)"What if Mr. Darcy was unwilling to accept Elizabeth's refusal to his Hunsford proposal and abducted her? Since our dear Darcy is a gentleman, notwithstanding a few unfortunate lapses, and would never even consider such a dastardly deed, this Darcy is OOC. Unfortunately for him, his plan does not go well."

OMG! Sheila! I just finished. What the crap? Who was that woman? Dang... that was tough. The epilogue was so good. I liked how everyone turned out. Whew! That was one heck of a story. 40 chapters and an epilogue.
Teresa wrote: "I've enjoyed Judith McNaught books over the years too Sheila."I was thinking about Paradise a few days ago. When we downsized I got rid of all my paperback books and then the Used Paperback Book Store closed so I can't even buy them cheap...and I had over $200 in credit there.
Sheila, I did the same thing. I had several hundred dollars in credit when our used book store closed. I gave credit vouchers to my reading friends just to use them up before they closed. I was heart broken. Then the book store closed and we only have a few books at our discount stores and that is it. I have to drive 70 miles round trip to a nearby town for a Barnes & Noble and a used book store. Times are changing.
There is a Barnes and Noble near us but I don't know of any used book stores. The Allentown and the Bethlehem AAUW have books sales; one in spring and one in fall and the money is used for scholarships for women. I am sure if I went to those I would buy a lot but I have more than enough to read.
Yeah, me too. My TBR pile has its own zip code. I think it will apply for state status if it gets any larger.

Wickham and Lydia don't marry ... Lydia wants to escape Longbourn and Darcy takes her to Pemberley as a companion to Georgiana. After some time, Darcy returns to Longbourn to say goodbye to Elizabeth, then goes back to Pemberley and marries Lydia.
As I say ... I'm glad I didn't suffer through the whole thing.
