Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments So far I am enjoying it but Mr. Rowland could add some remarks about the spark between them, the electric shock when they touch, the disturbance in their countenance when in each other's presence, how his kiss upon her glove lingers in its affect upon her, etc.

264.) You Don't Know Me. I don't have a link as the story was sent to me as a pdf. It is a 12 chapter, modern, P&P variation with very low angst but definitely MA. What was very pleasing is that the author used the words of various songs as part of the story. Darcy would sing to her in various places or the words just fit what one or the other was thinking/feeling....the Way You Look Tonight. She/he included links to the songs on YouTube.

Chelsea (crystal_dark) | 72 comments You have read so many wonderful books! I just read a non Austenesque Regency book called Waltzing with the Earl between my books so I wouldn't start confusing books with eachother since most of the Austenesque books I have read this year have been Regency period P&P variations. Even though Waltzing with the Earl wasn't an Austenesque book I found myself looking for ways to connect it to P&P.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments I resisted reading modern books but after being persuaded by Anji I have found many more modern ones to absolutely love. 1932 is not "modern" per se but is a fantastic love story set in The Great Depression in America. I highly recommend it and The Journey Home: A 1932 Side-quel is a parallel story told by Georgiana.

I have read a few modern ones (Prom Kings and Drama Queens, The Man Who Loved Pride & Prejudice: A Modern Love Story with a Jane Austen Twist, Austenland, & Midnight in Austenland) that I remember enjoying and have several on my TBR list I have just been more in the mood to read the Regency period ones at the moment.

I have also read a couple of time travel Austenesque books (What Would Jane Austen Do?, The Man Who Loved Jane Austen, & Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen) that I remember really enjoying that combine elements of both modern times as well as regency. Have you ever read any of the time travel Austenesque books?

message 173: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments Yes, I have read those time-travel ones. Some I read before I started posting reviews but will some day go back and reread in order to do so.

message 175: by Marlene (new)

Marlene | 364 comments I could NEVER remember a book well enough to review it much later. Even after I read something, I rely heavily on highlights for Kindle books and flags for paperbacks! I just had a GR friend write an excellent review on a book she has read before joining GR. I envy a memory like that. And it's not my age (40 now) because I've ALWAYS been this way!! :-)

I have posted reviews for all the books I have read since I retired on October 1, 1012 but there are many paperback books I read before then and didn't review. I have a lot of Linda Wells and the first 3 of Linda Berdoll and many of Sharon Lathan and some of Regina Jeffers to review but must reread as I don't remember the details. Oh, Berdoll's I do...she was so graphic it is difficult to forget her stories.
