Corey Lamb (officialcoreylamb) | 12 comments Hey everyone, my name is C. L. Allen, and like the topic states, I am an indie author. Recently, I published my first piece, titled "I Am Become Zombie", which is a comedy/horror that chronicles the afterlife of a college dropout who gets bitten by his landlord and becomes a zombie. I've gotten great feedback so far (enough to plan a trilogy), but I'm having trouble getting my name out there, which is a shame, because I feel like I've written something worth reading.

I'm looking for some advice on marketing/promotion, as well as any potential readers who would be interested in giving me their opinion on my story.

Here's the link to the ebook on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Am-Become-Zombi...

Happy reading, and happy writing!

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments Hi C.L.! Participating in groups like this one is a good start. The 2.99 for 49 pages may scare some people off, but I am sure that you could get a few people to read/review here. Good luck with your story!

Got your book yesterday, reading now, good stuff man!

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) Doing interviews, talking to readers, cultivating a brand, sharing info on your book around goodreads (in the appropriate folders for promotion, mind ye) and maybe a bit nicer cover would help. I'm an editor and Pr person at a small press called J Ellington Ashton and these are all methods we use.

Corey Lamb (officialcoreylamb) | 12 comments Bill- Yea, I'm starting to realize that. Honestly, this is the first thing I've ever published, so I'm experimenting with the price. The 70% royalty really drew me in, but as a reader, I can definitely see the price being a turn-off. I may have to reconsider...

Kasia- Thank you! Actually, if you don't mind talking to me after you finish it, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm currently writing part 2, so reader input would be amazing.

Amanda- I appreciate the advice. I'm definitely trying to talk to all of the readers that I can. And it's funny that you mentioned the cover...I was just wondering about it. I made it myself as a placeholder until I could get something more professional, but I'm glad you told me that.

Daniel Barnett | 239 comments I like the cover quite a bit actually, though it never hurts to experiment with new ones. I'd definitely drop the price down at least a dollar, potentially even to 99c--especially since it's only 49 pages. I'd reserve $2.99 for the 80k-120k word count range.

If this is your first book, it's more important to attract readers, and a more accessible price point is the best way to start. That's my opinion, anyway.

Best of luck!

Corey Lamb (officialcoreylamb) | 12 comments I actually dropped the price down to 99c last night. Here's hoping it reaches more potential readers.

Thanks!

Not a problem. You can certainly write, so that is solid and the humor blends in perfectly, you're a pro all ready.

Yay Kate!

Ken B | 6810 comments Just finished and enjoyed it!!!!

My review:

A slacker twenty-something finds himself on the wrong side of the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. Recently unemployed, out of cash and out of a girlfriend he embraces his fate and decides he is going to make the most of it.

A humorous beginning to the end!

4 STARS

BTW, the cover works!

Ken, nice review!

Love the cover too, it's fitting being grim and witty at the same time, I haven't had much time to read this week except for this morning on the train, hoping to finish it today when I finally have some quiet.

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments That's what I'm talking about C.L.! I just went and picked it up too! Ken did a great review and you have quite a good group of folks giving this one a shot. Sounds good, I will hopefully get to this one soon!
