I was thinking of this earlier Swango iteration:
2/8 is the day Ben Gravel (grah-VEL) was shot in the throat and killed as he left the Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit. The bullet travelled downwards and hit every major organ in his body before coming to rest against his pelvis. Amazingly, he managed to keep driving long enough to foil the plans of the teenaged carjackers. Kermit Haynes, who pulled the trigger, and Cortez Miller, who supplied the gun, were convicted of the crime; the other 4 kids were considered too young to prosecute as adults. There's no book.I wrote out something like 6 days' worth of TC anniversaries to list here, but somehow the list is gone from my bookbag. Ben Gravel -- the only one I could remember off the top of my head, because I went to high school with his daughter -- is listed as a stopgap.

I have them written in a big blank book I got from Borders Bookstore. There is a page for each day of the year. The challenge is remembering which book I found each case in.You'll also notice how many of them are cases of Michigan Woe, especially Detroit Woe. It registers in your memory so much better if you read about it in the papers the day after the bodies were discovered, you know?
