Dr. Siri? *swoon*
Happy birthday, Shomeret!
I'm in the US with Divining Women by Kaye Gibbons. She is one of my favorite authors and I don't know how I missed this novel when it was first published.

I was less thrilled than anticipated. The writing was excellent; however, by the end, I wanted the General to just be quiet. Have you read it?

I'm in Iran and England.
In Iran with A Teaspoon of Earth and Sea by Dina Nayeri, and
In London with Where the Devil Can't Go by Anya Lipska.

I hope you enjoy The Leavers, Sara.
I'm in Burundi, Rwanda and the U.S. with Strength in What Remains: A Journey of Remembrance and Forgiveness and in India with A Rising Man.

I am liking It, Carol, particularly the his writing style - there's a certain rhythm to his short sentences that is adding intrigue...

I am in Japan, in the years immediately before WWII, with The Makioka Sisters by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki; and
In England, immediately after WWII, with Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis.
I've wanted to read both for over a year, so am very happy.

I'm in various countries with The Shell Collector - so far in Kenya, U.S., Lithuania, Iceland, Poland, etc. Also in Spain with Fontamara.
I'm in Switzerland with The Chinaman by Friedrich Glauser. Glauser is a new author for me. He began writing crime novels whilst living in an insane asylum. I will have to find more novels by Clauser and more crime novels published by Bitter Lemon Press.

I am in Zanzibar with Gravel Heart by Abdulrazak Gurnah, in the U.S. With The Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African American Culinary History in the Old South by Michael W. Twitty, and in Japan with Revenge: Eleven Dark Tales by Yōko Ogawa. All are great books, so I'm informally rotating them.

Carol wrote: "I’m in Saudi Arabia with Zoë Ferraris’ Kingdom of Strangers."
I think that this is the most powerful of the books that have appeared in this series.
I'm in Honduras with The Lost City of the Monkey God: A True Story and in Greece with The Illegal Gardener
I'm in Australia and France with The Life to Come, a new release from Michelle de Kretser. Not sure yet whether she'll be taking me to Sri Lanka as well.
I'm traveling up and around the East Coast and Louisiana in the United States -- with John Connolly's first novel: Every Dead Thing.
I am in Ireland with Smile by Roddy Doyle. I have no idea where this is headed and I'm 80% through, which is a somewhat unusual experience with contemporary fiction.

I'm in London, although I anticipate spending much time in Massachusetts as the story progresses, with Kamila Shamsie's Home Fire.

I'm in Tibet with The Dragon in the Land of Snows: A History of Modern Tibet Since 1947 and in Russia with The Revolution of Marina M..
I'm in England in 1802 with The Alphabet of Heart's Desire by Brian Keaney, an excellent historical fiction novel.
Lilisa, I'm highly intrigued by your Tibet read. Is Revolution the one with quite an intimidating page count?

The Tibet history read is interesting although I'm having a hard time keeping track of all the names :-). I think you'd enjoy it. Yes, The Revolution of Marina M. page count is 1,000 - I hadn't realized! I'm doing the audio - enjoying listening to it. It harkens me back to The House by the Dvina: A Russian Childhood, which I loved. Hoping it continues well...

I may just have to woman-up and tackle them both. The descriptions are so in my lane. Glad you're enjoying them.
I'm also in Pakistan with Moth Smoke by Mohsin Hamid. So different in style than any other author I read and that's a good thing.

Lol - The Dragon in the Land of Snows: A History of Modern Tibet Since 1947 is actually about 450-odd pages - the rest is notes, citations, etc. It is a bit dry so pacing is a good strategy. I'm guessing Marina is as long as the info states. I'll have to keep an eye out for your rating on MS - I've read three of his books and liked How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia the best.
