I'm in alternate England in which Nazi Germany is occupying Britain in The British Lion by Tony Schumacher. It's the sequel to The Darkest Hour which I haven't read, but I won The British Lion from Goodreads. So far I think it's standing on its own pretty well and the characterization is excellent.
I'm in Pakistan with The Golden Legend - brought to my attention by this thread - thanks Carol. I'm enjoying it.

I'm so glad, Lilisa.

I'm in Hong Kong with The Painted Veil and also back in Myammar to pick up where I left off with From the Land of Green Ghosts: A Burmese Odyssey.
Diane wrote: "I am in a mental institution in New Zealand with Faces in the Water by Janet Frame."Phew that book was intense.
I'm in Zambia with A Cowrie of Hope, set in the 1990s when money was scarce and AIDS had started to be an issue.

I am departing an uncomfortable trip to Austria with The Piano Teacher and sailing to India on a Sea of Poppies.

Jenny, has the TV series been broadcast where you live? Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. I haven't read any of the books, but I did enjoy the first series or two on TV. The costumes alone were worth the time spent watching it.

Yes! Lots of fun.
I am in the slums of Trinidad and Tobago with No Pain Like This Body: A Novel by Harold Sonny Ladoo.
I'm in the harsh deserts of Mauritania and Western Sahara with Skeletons on the Zahara: A True Story of Survival.
I'm in a traveling frenzy - in Netherlands and the U.S. with The Goldfinch, Istanbul with Istanbul: City of Majesty at the Crossroads of the World and beetling around with scrumptious food in The Temporary Bride: A Memoir of Love and Food in Iran.
I'm in the Midwestern U.S. with So Long, See You Tomorrow by William Maxwell. Its prose is luminous.

I'll be very interested to see your review of this one, Sara.

Me too, total Reading Envy here. Your Bulgaria read sounds better than my Bulgaria read.

I'm also immersed in The Goldfinch. It's taking me a while to get through it, but I don't mind because I'm enjoying it so much. I'm not sure why I waited so long to get to it.

I'm listening to it Andrea and only on chapter 4 - it's probably going to take me awhile. :-) good to know it's going well for you. I'm liking it so far.

Yep - Hope you're enjoying it.

I'm in 19th century England with the YA historical fantasy Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves which I won in a Goodreads giveaway. This is the first book in a trilogy. I wanted to read it because there is eventually a Romani character according to the description. I will also be Hungary at that point.
I'm still reading Some Prefer Nettles and Another Country. But have traveled to 1919 India with A Rising Man by Abir Mukherjee. It is strong.
Finishing up The Colonizer and the Colonized in Tunisia. Just setting foot in Bosnia & Herzegovina with Bosnian Chronicle by Ivo Andrić.

Very good so far. The timeline moves forward and each section focuses on a different character within the same circle, so there are different topics that arise.
