I am trying to work and setting up a stead meditation practice.
Currently I am using two free apps that I find quite helpful.

Insight timer- It seems to have hundreds of meditations of various lenghts to choose from. It also keeps a record for your days meditated.

Stop Breath Think- This has about a dozen meditations to choose from. As well as a just a timer if you wish to meditate in silence.
It also tracks the days you mediate.

I appreciate those titles. DH & i decided we both want to pursue yoga and meditation next year. Those will be a good start. Our library also has a couple of DVDs of yoga for seniors, which specifically mention balance, which will help us both, too.

Deb, if you are just starting out with yoga, I would recommend chair yoga. I take it at the YMCA and love it.

For balance you might also check out Tai Chi.

Thank you for this, Alias. We are checking out the Y when we return from our Portland, OR., Christmas. We are also considering renting an air B&B for the first part of the year, maybe a few months in a place where we can spread out to organize our "stuff" and purge even further. Ha!

This is from The Teaching Company. It's only the first disc.

It's All Relative: Adventures Up and Down the World’s Family Tree--A.J. Jacobs
I love his books.

The Plant-Based Solution: A Vegan Cardiologist's Plan to Save Your Life and the Planet--Joel Kahn
I like to read books like this. They help to keep me motivated.

The first book sounds good, so i've added it to my TBR for when i'm ready to read about Russia again.

I hope you like Persuasion as much as i did, Irfken. If you care to follow up with a filmed version i suggest the mid-'90s one. It stars Amanda Root and Ciarán Hinds.

Thanks madrano, I hope I love these books as they seem right up my alley. I'll definitely check out the Persuasion film once I've read the book.

I'm a passionate history aficionado and so love historical books.

I rarely get books as gifts, but a recent belated holiday present from my aunt looks interesting: The Dawn Watch: Joseph Conrad in a Global World. Never read Heart of Darkness though.

Two of my all time favorites, Cry the Beloved Country and Ethan Frome.

I had to read In Cold Blood in high school and it scared me something fierce.

I read Ethan Frome and Cry, the Beloved Country as an Adult. Actually I read Cry with Book Nook Cafe. I think I may have read it with Deb.

Correct, Alias. I'm not sure i would have read it had you not suggested the book And i liked it very much.

I have read Heart of Darkness but not in high school. Our Conrad assignment in there was Lord Jim, which i did not like back then. I don't think i've tried it since then but should try again, as i've liked most everything else i've read by him. Given his brilliant way with English i have to remind myself that it was not the language of his birth, Polish was. The book sounds good, John.

If you read the book, John, i'd be interested in knowing what you think of it.

Did you ever read the Patrick Ryan, Madrano? He and I went to high school together: he was one of my best friends and I still adore him although it's been years since we've seen each other.

THe one you said you had picked up is called The Dream Life of Astronauts: Stories. My favorite of his is probably Send Me but that's no doubt because me and a bunch of my old friends all have characters based on us that show up in it and it's like old home week picking everyone out. :)
