The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly
Minnow Bly has been through the torture of a cult that her family forced her into at age five; young enough to have no power, but old enough to know that this is wrong. For twelve years she hid her true self, sneaking away to meet with a boy, questioning their leader (but never too much), and trying to survive. After her escape, she finds the outside world can be cruel as well, but beautiful in a way she never imagined possible.
Minnow is a strong character and a fierce fighter; her experiences have taught her only that she must look out for herself and others, because no one else may care enough to do something. This unique story is both harrowing and inspiring as we learn more of Minnow's present and her past.
the hundred lies of lizzie lovett ... I unfortunately don't recommend it .. I thought it would take a turn for the interesting .. but it didnt end that way unfortunately I was disappointed
Ugh! That's too bad to hear. I may read it at some point still, but its going further down on my TBR list.
was SO adorable. It's a story about these two teens who grow up in an Indian family, surrounded by an Indian community. Dimple just wants to learn about technology and go to summer camp, not go to college to meet her future husband. Rishi just wants to find his future bride and live as happy as his parents (who had an arranged marriage), and wants to go to a summer program to meet her. What Dimple doesn't know is that Rishi thinks she is his future wife. It's sweet story and a great diverse title to add to your collection.
I'm hearing about that EVERYWHERE .. literally every single booktuber is reading that book or has read it. Will have to wait a bit for library to pick it up though!
hahaha, that's because it's a good one! I was attracted to the cover and stayed for the cuteness and the discussion the characters were having.
