Lynn (lmelliott) | 686 comments Finished Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard for #2 Good Teacher -- Read a book that explores the subject that person taught. I read this in honor of Mrs. Holsberry, my 11th grade English teacher, who tried to convince me I should like Walden after I wrote a paper trashing it. Pilgrim at Tinker Creek is a feminist sort of Walden......a one year nature study combined with a search for spiritual meaning. The book was originally published in 1974 and the writing is beautiful and much better than Thoreau's. I'm 11/12 for the challenge now.

I've updated my progress on my original post ✼ Message 7

message 102: by Noel (new)

Noel (noel-brady) Finished my 3rd book (3/3) for this challenge! Task #8: a life-changing journey. Read Everything Is Illuminated, which is about a Jewish American traveling to Ukraine to search for the woman who saved his grandfather from the Nazis. (Amazing read btw. Beautiful writing and utterly hilarious too, despite how it sounds from the description!)

By the way, if anyone is interested in reading this book, check out the author's blog. He is giving away digital copies in exchange for your honest review. His goal is to get at least 100 reviews by the end of the year. And I can tell you: it is worth the read. You can look at my review:
