Hello friends! I am currently reading Scrappy Little Nobody and while I may finish this before the New Year I, also may not. I wanted to know what everyone's opinions were. If you are currently reading a book in 2016 that you finish in 2017 do you count that for the challenge? Part of me thinks that makes sense but, the other part makes me feel like I am cheating. Let me know your thoughts! Thank you!!

It is entirely up to you. I write books in my journal when I finish them. So if I were to start a new book today and finish it next week, it would be on my 2017 book's read list.If I have time to start a new book today it will not be one that I am using to fulfill any of the challenges. For one thing if I were to start something today there is a good chance it might still be finished in 2016, I read fast when I get time to read but I am also just waiting for 2017 to start on the titles I have chosen. For me that is part of the challenge.
But that is for me. If I were in the middle of a big book that would fulfill one of the challenge prompts I might feel differently. If I were a slow reader or if I were having a hard time getting reading time I might feel differently. My point is the challenge should be your own. The prompts are given from an outside source but the rest of it should be up to you.

Thank you!! I am in the middle of two books. Well really almost the end of one and the almost halfway done with the other. I might be able to finish the one by the New Year but, defiantly not the other. I just wanted to see what other people thought about it. I mean it is true that it is up to me. Thank you!! :)
I do my list from the finish date, not the start date, so if I were to start a book tomorrow and finish it Sunday, it would count for 2017. But everyone has their own system for fulfilling the requirements, so just decide what works best for you and then follow your own rules :)
I think the point of these challenges is to get you reading! So I wouldn't stress too much about timing. I say, if you finish a book in the new year, count it! :)
I have a bad habit of starting books and getting excited about others and starting those. So I'm currently reading 3 books that I need to finish! I'm using them toward the challenge!
I count books by when I finish them generally. For this challenge, if I have read less than 50% of the book in 2016 then I will count it towards 2017 challenges.
For me, depends on how much of the book I've read.I've read only 8 page of a 600+ page book - I'm going to restart it only in 2017, and I'll count it towards the challenge (I'll probably reread the 8 pages anyway)
Another book, I've finished 30℅, and probably will finish 50℅ by the time the year ends. I won't count that for any of the prompts ...
I agree with everyone else though - whatever floats your boat! For me the PopSugar challenge is simply about discovering more books and increasing my reading horizons.
