Silvia (drumgenie) | 47 comments Hey everyone! Happy summer! God, I love the summer so much! I hope everyone is staying happy, safe, and healthy as we continue to shift into these new normal times.
I did want to give the heads-up that I currently have one opening for August, and then I am booking out for late October and November, with only a handful of openings for the rest of the year. I do, however, have one VIP spot open if you have plans to publish during the last half of the year! Again, the VIP package is good for one year, starting with the date you enroll, ending one year later.
If you have something in the works, please reach out so we can get you booked before the last of 2020's dates are gone!
Peace, Love, and Smushy hugs!

Kasandra Kurutz | 5 comments Hello Authors!!

My name is Kasandra Kurutz, I go by Kassi even though it is nice to hear Kasandra every once in a while!

I have been an avid reader for years and often thought about editing. I was recently asked by an author that I Beta read for if I would like to edit for her as well. I obviously jumped at the opportunity and enjoyed every minute of editing my first book. (Especially after finding out she was pleased with the results!)

This prompted me to see if I could find other authors looking to take a chance on a new editor with very competitive rates.

Please message me if you would be interested and we can talk. Either reach me here or by email at kurutz4@gmail.com.

I am open to most genres. My favorites are Dystpoian and Paranormal. I also like Fantasy, Suspense and Mystery, but will consider others, as well.

Looking forward to connecting!

Kassi

message 114: by Lydia (new)

Lydia Redwine | 1 comments Hello all!

My name is Lydia Redwine, and I am a self-published author of 6 books. I am looking to edit and beta read some books on the side. I provide free samples to see if the author and I are a good fit. For editing, I will edit 5k words for free, and for beta reading, I'll read 1-3 chapters.

I usually read and edit samples the day I receive them and then read/edit over the course of two weeks depending on the word count and author's deadlines.

My prices are:

Beta reading:
0-30k words – $50
30k-100k words – $75
100k -150k words – $100
150k -200k – $150
200k+ words - $200

Editing (this includes anything from developmental, copy/line editing, and proofreading.)
$100 for 0-30k words.
$150 for 30k-100k words
$200 for 100k + words
$250 for 200k+ words

I don't have an English degree or anything fancy, but I've beta read and edited over twenty-five books this year as well as the six I've published myself.
For testimonials and more information, please visit my website:
https://lydiaredwineauthor.com/poetry/

If you'd like to reach out to me about receiving a sample, please email me at lydia.redwine@gmail.com or through the contact page on my website.

Lisa | 1 comments Hello everyone!

My name is Lisa, and I'm a freelance editor and assistant editor for Art + Deco literary agency. I have experience evaluating slush pile manuscripts, as well as conducting beta reads and developmental edits for manuscripts offered representation and those looking to be polished and primed for agent querying.

I offer competitive pricing for each of my services (beta reading, editorial assessments, developmental editing, and query letter hooks and synopses), which can be found on my website: https://sites.google.com/view/bookbet.... For developmental editing, I offer a free 10-page sample edit so you'll know the kind of edits and advice I provide.

My specialties include fantasy (all subgenres), sci-fi, historical fiction, new adult, young adult, romance, mysteries/thrillers, and memoirs for nonfiction.

Through my work at the agency, I've seen firsthand how the power of a unique and bold story can transform the world and touch people's hearts. I'm here to bring more of that into the open, to uplift those whose voices have not been heard, to create and share new ways of thinking through prose, and to help shape and mold each story into the best version it can be.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to working with you! Contact me here in a comment or at l.wong1079@gmail.com. Slots are now open starting February.

Aimee Hill (ajeditorial) | 1 comments There seems to be an abundance of editors in this group offering their wares to authors.

To add my name into the mix, I am newly graduated from a Master's in Publishing. My major project researched representation in trade publishing and as such I have been kept in the loop with market trends. The Master's also provided me with the tools for formatting a manuscript into a book for both print and digital.

I have over 100 hours editing experience with Cambridge University Press. Unfortunately, I was laid off during the pandemic. Having applied to 53 jobs (yes, there's a spreadsheet), I've decided instead to build myself a small kingdom of freelance editing.

I offer a free sample edit of two pages of your manuscript. After that we will both be in a position to discuss the scope of the editing that needs done and come to an agreement on how the work will be contracted.

Payment plans can be negotiated to suit your budget. There are details of my average rates on my website. As I'm building my portfolio, I am willing to negotiate with you on these rates to suit us both best.

Silvia (drumgenie) | 47 comments Good morning lovelies!

I can't believe that we are halfway through May already! As the summer kicks off, now is a great time to get those summer reads polished and ready for publication!
As some may know, I do run a slightly reduced schedule during the summer since my girls are home. With that being said, I currently have 2 spots left available for June, 3 spots available for July, and I have open booking for August. I also wanted to announce that I have 1 VIP spot available at the moment, so if you are planning to release multiple books in the next year, or you simply would rather not have to schedule your editing time (and you like 10% discounts and free proofreads), definitely get in touch so we can secure your VIP status!
Also, I wanted to let you all know that I will be on vacation from June 26 until July 9, so please keep that in mind if you are looking to book a June or July spot.
Again, if you have a summer read you are ready to get out, lets talk! As always, you can check out my website to view my testimonials, service packages, and pricing. If you want to talk more, please feel free to message me directly, fill out a form submission on my website, or email me at silviasreadingcorner@gmail.com
In your message, please include a brief synopsis of your manuscript, your word count (or estimated word count), what service package you may be interested in, any deadlines you may be working with, and if your manuscript has had any professional feedback or beta reads.

Sherry | 1 comments Do you want to make your story shine? I provide proofreading, deep line editing, developmental story analysis and beta reading to ensure your manuscript is polished for agents, publishers and self-publishing. I use 'track changes' on your manuscript and also provide a full breakdown report if you have a story analysis, focusing on areas such as 'show not tell', correcting POV issues, overexplaining, repetition, character development and removing clichés and adverbs to make your manuscript the best it can be.

As an editor with over twenty years of experience, I'll provide you with a fast turnaround at affordable prices. I now have spaces for July and August - so contact me if you want to book your manuscript in.

I have helped authors receive publication deals and provided book jacket reviews - something that is crucial to any traditional/self-published author.

Finding the right editor or beta reader can be as tricky as finding the right dentist and I'm therefore happy to give a FIVE PAGE FREE SAMPLE so you can check we're a good fit for each other.

Breyonna Jordan, Developmental Editor | 2 comments Hey everyone!

I am a developmental editor who specializes in sci-fi and fantasy works.

I examine how your use of characterization, plot, setting, and other literary elements engages the reader and propels the story and theme.

After reading your entire novel once-through, I use a combination of revision letters, Word track changes/Google Doc suggestions, and editorial queries (comments) to show you how to better apply writing skills and prevent things like info-dumping and a lack of conflict from ruining your lovely novel.

My services are built for independent, new, or up-and-coming authors and are designed to be very flexible with several offers at various price brackets. My most popular option is the Advanced Editorial Assessment. It offers detailed, explanatory editorial queries and tracked changes on the first 10% of the manuscript and a revision letter with detailed solutions and advice for various problems within your manuscript.

Below are my initial price estimates for an 80,000-word manuscript:
Full Developmental Edit: $1300
Advanced Editorial Assessment: $399
Editorial Assessment: $149

I always offer free 1,000 word samples, so you can get a clear picture of my editing style before I give a final price. I can also create a custom offer with the best services I can provide at a price that works for you. To learn more about me and my services, please visit https://editingyourworlds.com/.

Please leave a comment, or email bjordan@editingyourworlds.com if you are interested in my services. You can also reach out to me on Facebook or Instagram @editingyourworlds.

Have a great day!

Catherine Thorsen (cartaedits) | 4 comments I want to help you make your novel the best it can be.

Carta Editorial Services opened in 2018, with an aim to provide novice- and debut authors with friendly and affordable editing services. Since then, I have worked extensively with authors who want to query or self-publish high-quality manuscripts.

I understand how scary it can be to show your work to an outsider, especially for the first time. To make it all a little bit easier, I believe in encouraging, constructive feedback and an open dialogue. I will help you set achievable goals, based on your strengths and ambitions.

Genres: Psychological Thrillers. Domestic Thrillers. Mysteries. Suspense. Women’s Fiction. Epistolary Fiction/Mixed Media. UpLit/Feelgood. Urban Fantasy. Paranormal Romance.

Specialities: Strong women protagonists. Cat-and-mouse-games. Stalkers. Cults. Unreliable narrators. Small-town and family dynamics. LGBTQIA+. Witches. Ghosts. Magic.

Target Audience: Adult. Young Adult. Middle Grade.

Every author is different, and so is their process. I’m flexible in how I structure my services, and aim to fit most budgets. Email me for a no-commitment chat, free sample and quote today: catherine@cartaedits.com

When I’m not editing, I like to read, swim, solve puzzles and kill plants in increasingly creative ways because the internet told me to. I live in a small town in Western Australia with my partner and our two cats.

I'm a member of Editorial Freelancers Association, National Association of Independent Writers & Editors, WritingWA, Sisters in Crime Australia, and the Australian Crime Writers Association.

Available in February!

All the best

"Go then, there are other worlds than these." Stephen King - The Gunslinger

It is best to start with a 10k word sample or partial beta read for very large manuscripts. You can send this to me for a free evaluation.

Working with any editor is a personal journey, requiring close communication and understanding. Every journey starts with that first step.

My pricing is transparent and clear, so you can decide, and my free evaluation of your manuscript sample can give you a definitive guide to where your manuscript is, if you are beta reader ready, and prepare you to give the best possible shine to your manuscript to present to agents.

You can just email me for a chat, or simply send your 10k sample directly to me.

I love the fact that every morning, when I turn on my PC, I never know where, in this world or another, I will be.

Nichole Heydenburg | 3 comments Hi everyone! I'm Nichole Heydenburg, owner of Poisoned Ink Press. I offer manuscript critiques, developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading. I have a BA in English and I'm a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association.

Do you write mysteries, thrillers, suspense, crime fiction, horror, fantasy, or YA fiction? Are you looking for an editor for your WIP and struggling to find someone who's professional, reliable, amazing at their job, and enjoys helping authors?

If you're a writer, it's not worth your time to hire an editor who claims they can edit anything because no one can understand and specialize in every book genre. I only edit the genres that I'm passionate about and frequently read. I understand genre tropes and reader expectations for these genres, which means I'll help you get on the right track.

Poisoned Ink Press offers a free sample edit of up to 1,500 words to make sure we're a good fit before hiring. I have availability starting in May. Reach out today to request editing services: www.nicholeheydenburg.com/poisonedink....

Kristopher Ballard | 2 comments Hello all!

I’m a freelance copy editor and proofreader. I completed my editing certificate through UC San Diego in December 2021, and I’m looking to expand my editing portfolio with fiction and creative non-fiction works as well as other types of content.

I offer a free 1,000-word sample edit to give you a sense of my editing style and capabilities. If you’re pleased with the results, I’d be thrilled to continue editing for you at my rate of $5 per 1000 words ($0.005 per word).

I’ll proofread and copy edit your manuscript to make sure grammar, spelling, and punctuation are correct. I’ll also perform light line editing to clarify awkward or ambiguous sentences and ensure voice, style, and tone consistency. Let me know in advance if I should adhere to a specific style guide (i.e., Chicago Manual of Style).

Please check out my editing services info here: https://www.fiverr.com/share/ggQYQX

I also offer beta reading services: https://www.fiverr.com/share/lblmYA

If you prefer, you can email me at KristopherBallard@gmail.com or PM me here on Goodreads.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Kris

Silvia (drumgenie) | 47 comments Hi lovelies!
I hope everyone is having a great summer! We are enjoying the beautiful weather and some amazing books <3
I wanted to give everyone the heads up that I am currently booking for October, November, and December, with only a handful openings left for 2022 (it is crazy, I know!). I have opened my 2023 books a bit early this year, and I am already taking appointments. I also have no VIP spots available at the moment, and there is a waiting list for those spots if anyone is interested in being added to that list. As always, please be sure to check out my website if you want to view any of my service packages, pricing per word (USD), or check out my testimonials. If you want to chat more, you can always message me directly on here, email me at silviasreadingcorner@gmail.com, or you can fill out a form submission right on my website. Please be sure to include a blurb or brief synopsis, word count (or projected word count), any deadlines you may be working with, and if you have had any previous work done to your book (beta reading, critique partners, any editing, etc.).
Of course, if you would like to get on the schedule or have any questions, please send me a message so we can get you booked as soon as possible.
Happy Writing <3
