Good Luck with the challenge this year Emily. I like that your doing your own challenge within a challenge :)
Thank you for your support, Brenda and Veronica :)My first book for the year is The Natural Way of Things by Charlotte Wood. Fantastic writing, but too many loose ends for me to really get behind it. Review.
Book two of 2017: The Rebirth of Rapunzel: A Mythic Biography of the Maiden in the Tower by Kate Forsyth. Review.
I'm back, after falling off the bandwagon a bit!Book three of 2017: A Corner of White by Jaclyn Moriarty. Review.
I'm already nearly haflway through the second book in the series; I am loving it!
Book four of 2017: The Cracks in teh Kingdom by Jaclyn Moriarty, book 2 in the Colours of Madeleine series. Review.
Book five of 2017: A Tangle of Gold by Jaclyn Moriarty, book 3 in the Colours of Madeleine series. Pretty devastated that this one let me down so much! Review.
Book six of 2017: Puberty Blues by Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey. I get why this book is as revered as it is, but I wasn't a fan myself. Review.
Book seven of 2017 (and my first Indigenous read for the year): Walpiri Women’s Voicess: Our LIves, Our History, compiled by Janet Nakamarra Long and Georgina Napangardi and edited by Petronella Vaarzon-Morel. Review.
Book nine of 2017: The Secret Science of Magic by Melissa Keil. I had no doubt I would love this one! Review.
Book ten of 2017: How the Aliens from Alpha Centauri Invaded My Maths Class and Turned Me Into a Writer… and How You Can Be One, Too by Jackie French. Review.
Book eleven of 2017: Heart of Brass by Felicity Banks. The last part picked up a bit but I wasn't terribly engaged for the most part. Review.
Book twelve of 2017: the Betrayal of Bindy MacKenzie by Jaclyn Moriarty. This was a strange one! Review. That's technically my challenge completed but I'm only 1/4 of the way through my diversity challenge! Need to get onto that in the second half of the year. And not leave it until the last minute like I did last year.
Book thirteen of 2017: The Year of Freaking Out by Sara Walker. Review. The first of my reads by LGBTI* authors, and it was really cute!
Book fourteen of 2017: The Space Between by Rachel Sanderson. Review.Rachel is a friend of mine and this is her debut novel, which was shortlisted for the 2016 Ampersand Prize. I realy enjoyed it and recommend!
Book fifteen of 2017: A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares by Krystal Sutherland. Review. This is cute and quirky on the surface but actually is a really bittersweet, kind of heartbreaking look at mental illness and how it can affect a family. I really loved it and I'm not sure my review does it justice.
Book sixteen of 2017: The Disappearance of Ember Crow. Review. Second book by an Indigenous author, and I will also be reading the third book in the series.
Book twenty-one of 2017: Stay by Jesse Blackadder. Review. With that, my challenge-within-a-challenge (the 2 indigenous authors and 2 LGBTI* authors) is complete. It's unlikely that I'll read any other AWWs before the end of the year, so I can declare my 2017 Challenge completed!

I only read one LGBTI* author in 2016, as the only other one I started ended up not being something I was interested in. Hoping to do better on the diversity front this time around! I've been going through the diversity pages on the AWW site and then looking up the authors here on GR so I've got several marked to start wtih.
