SOLVED. Book series about a girl who can travel into books and interact with characters - author has a Welsh-like name. [s]

I think this series could be categorized as YA, but I'm not sure. Anyway, the main character is a woman who works for some government organization in London that solves crimes done by book characters. If I remember right, she's either looking for her father or her husband in the first book. The author has an unusual name with maybe a double-J or a double-F in it or something. It's quite funny...one of the few series that literally made me laugh out loud, but now I can't remember who the author is or any of book titles! Can someone help me? Thank you!
