Thomas A Darby | 3 comments Well-known author (can't recall), a sci-fi/fantasy paperback I last read in 2007, and it was old then. Millions of years in future. Features ape-like people who live underground, fearful of outside; there is a cliff outside the cave they use to dispose of the dead. They have one remaining human deep in the caves who is a "seer" and is preserved and honored by them; ape people have tails and use them in sexual relations; once outside, they cross from what is apparently middle of USA to west coast, encountering new dinosaurs who have returned, and other civilizations who fight with them. I think it had million-years in title, This book bears no relation in plot to Planet of the Apes or other movies/books I've eer heard of.

Thomas A Darby | 3 comments Thank you. "At Winter's End" is a very good book, and has some similar plot elements; but the people in the book I am looking for are simian-like, monkeys with tails, living underground, with one captive human as a "seer." It is he who tells them to leave. The monkey-people migrate from the caves (Kentucky?) and cross what sounds like the Mississippi, end up on the west coast, fighting evolved dinosaurs and such along the way. I THINK there is a number in the title, such as 10 million or something. Don't think Silverberg is the author.

Thomas A Darby | 3 comments No, sorry. Best I can tell you is that it has a top-rated sci-fi author, and has a number in the title, could be "..something... million A.D." or thousands or....

I wish that I could find it again in that old lending library, but alas even if it was still there, most of the town (library included) was destroyed in a forest fire in 2015.

Thank you for your help!
