The Ranch question

I read a book years ago. A young lady is with 2 family members.they dont have much money.she agrees to marriage if he helps take care of her family in the home on the mountain. He beats her right after marriage on the way home and also at home when he cant sleep with her.he hires his ranch hand to get her pregnant.i remember her sneaking to visit her family.please help .
