Paula Bardell-Hedley (gaiabird) | 195 comments Thanks to you, Rosemarie, I have cracked the dreaded X. Today I downloaded the Kindle version of Xingu by Edith Wharton from Amazon.uk - and it was completely free!

I must admit that I am feeling rather pleased with this choice as I have been meaning to read something by Wharton for quite some time (yes, this is a first). Plus, it is a nice short one before embarking on my next doorstop.

Paula, I used Xingu for X as well, in a free ibook. It is a fun story.

Many apologies, Rosemarie. It was in fact on your reading list that I spotted Xingu. I have corrected the mistake on my former comment. Thank you so much - and sorry once again.

You're going to love the story. Xingu is one of my favorite stories.

Thank you, Renee. I had a feeling you said somewhere that you had read and enjoyed this book. Please excuse my poor foggy brain!

And I found out about Xingu from Jenny! This group really has great reading ideas.

Paula Bardell-Hedley (gaiabird) | 195 comments Renee and Rosemarie were right, Xingu was great fun. I could just imagine that gossiping gaggle of 'high culture' ladies and their reading group!

You never know, Stella, we still have a few months left to complete the challenge - I feel more positive now I have the X. I know what you mean, I too take great pleasure in filling out templates. I also love lists, so I'm afraid I am a hopeless case!

How are we doing with the Alphabet these days?

Paula Bardell-Hedley (gaiabird) | 195 comments Renee wrote: "How are we doing with the Alphabet these days?"

Just J, K and U to find to complete mine, Renee!

Three tough letters!

I liked these Js...
Johnny Tremain
June
The Jungle
Especially, The Jungle i couldn't put it down.

And I liked Under the Udala Tree very much.

My Ks were pretty pathetic, though.

Usually for K I use a book title that starts with "King".

Renee M | 4789 comments Mod
Ha! I'll try that, too!

Gareth | 166 comments I just have Q, R, U and X to go

Rosemarie | 4506 comments Mod
Those are the hard ones, Gareth.

message 75: by Gareth (new)

Gareth | 166 comments Yeah, if I do a reread I'm planning i'll hit the R, with Revolution, but I don't have any books that start with Q, U or X. I suppose Queen will fit if I find something interesting to read

For X, I recommend the short story called Xingu by Edith Wharton. I read it in a free ebook version and found it entertaining.
