Itll work for me, though!

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments ROFL!

Okay, I'll compromise - I'll make a shelf that will be my reading list. It's so much faster to shelve books than it is to insert them into posts.

message 53: by Christa, The Renewed (last edited Dec 29, 2016 05:01PM) (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Okay, here is the shelf, aptly titled, "r-u-happy-now". :P
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

For series, I only put the first book (if unread) or whatever the next unread book is.

There are 15 books on it, but when you factor in additional series books that I'll probably read, it nearly hits my set minimum of 30 books. I might end up actually making a post of them in my regular challenge thread, but not till I get back to Nashville. All the clicking and linking is annoying on my laptop.

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments Christa wrote: "Yes. Yes, you would.

Be careful what you wish for, though. I did an impromptu buddy read with Doodles recently and I basically just bitched about the main character the whole time. :D"

It was AMAZING :D

And BOOM! Trapped in a buddy read. Told ya. :P

Yeah, I'd be up for that. :) It's gonna be soon, though. Like in the next couple of weeks because I got it from the library.

message 57: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments Aww! I'd join you guys if I wasn't already committed to and excited about my Rivers of London buddy read, starting on the first.

message 58: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments Ehem.... Would you ladies mind another buddy in this read?
You have got me curious now... :P

message 59: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments LOL I don't mind at all, Doodles! :)

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments Christa wrote: "LOL I don't mind at all, Doodles! :)"

Yay! :D
I'm good whenever :)

message 61: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Let me know whenever! I'm ready!

message 62: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Sweet! Lemme see how this current book goes in terms of speed. I might make On the Edge my first 2017 read since everyone seems to be good to go. :)

message 63: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments :-)

And it would fit in with my challenge.

message 64: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments I'm sure I can fit it somewhere in my challenges too :D

message 65: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments I've pulled off the miraculous feat of being able to fit any book into my challenge. :P

('twas no accident, that.)

message 66: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Only 27.5 hours... :D

message 67: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments O_O

message 68: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments 6.5 hours...

I should probably use some of this time to bring my 2016 thread up to date. :D

LOL :D

message 70: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Soooo... I was thinking, that I could maybe blog this shit? (I've been saying "shit" a lot tonight.) I'd post the totals here. You know, Title: ## points, blog link, but then post the whole breakdown in the blog post. Book info / cover, points breakdown by category and how I did the scoring. If I try to do all of that in this thread for every book... it could get messy fast.

So blog. Yay or nay?

message 71: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments Christa wrote: "So blog. Yay or nay? "

I'd check it out. I say go for it.

message 72: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Woot!

It's a good thing you said that, because I made one last night. LOL

O.o *Snort!* LOL!

I just read the parameters of your challenge to my (soon to be 14-year old) daughter. She is thoroughly scandalized by Part 4, and wants me to stress to you that you can not ship couples from different universes!
I was tempted to tell her that with enough wine you can. But I'm not sure that would have been appropriate. :D

message 74: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments Christa wrote: "Soooo... I was thinking, that I could maybe blog this shit?."

Go moderate that shit already! You got a message waiting! :D

*Question: is my not having a Wordpress account going to be an issue?

message 75: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments LOL! Yeah, including wine > logic ratio calculations would probably NOT be appropriate. :D

Your comment is approved. Your future comments should go through automatically now, I have it set to only need moderation on a first comment. Having a Wordpress account or not doesn't matter.

message 76: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments Sweet! Thank you.

message 77: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments MrsJoseph wrote: "LOVE"

:D

I told my cousin how she inspired the name of the blog and she laughed her ass off. :D

Now all I need is to actually finish reading this book and get things started.

message 79: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments Yea hurry up already :P LOL

message 80: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments I still haven't finished my book. But I'll be getting a lot of airport time tomorrow followed by a 2-hour flight, so I should get close to finishing by the time I get home to Nashville.

message 81: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments Christa wrote: "I still haven't finished my book. But I'll be getting a lot of airport time tomorrow followed by a 2-hour flight, so I should get close to finishing by the time I get home to Nashville."

Safe travels, hon!

message 82: by Christa, The Renewed (last edited Jan 03, 2017 05:38PM) (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Thanks :) Right now I'm doing the thing where I appease the Suitcase Gods by sacrificing things I don't absolutely need to take home with me. So far I've offered up a box of candy, some t-shirts and a pair of shoes. LOL

Fortunately, since it's my mom's house, the shirts and shoes will just be less for me to pack when I come back in the spring.

I'm probably going to leave my gaming laptop here, too. It's getting a bit old so it only runs some games, I don't use it at home, and while I do sometimes take it when I'm housesitting, I'd rather make the tradeoff and not have to lug it through two airports next time I come down here. It's heavy and having two laptops AND my camera gear in my backpack on the trip down here gave me a backache that took two days to get rid of.

message 83: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments Either Santa was very nice to someone or said someone went on a shopping spree! :)

message 84: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Haha! My mom bought me a small popcorn popper for Christmas. :) https://www.amazon.com/Nostalgia-RHP3...

The box takes up 1/4th of my suitcase. She got me some other stuff, too, but mostly small-sized, fortunately. I'm NOT leaving behind my Christmas presents!

Some family friends bought me a small quilted handbag which I immediately started using. I think I've broken physics because it's obviously smaller than the one I brought down with me, but holds more stuff. Not complaining, that's for sure. I hate putting my Kindle Fire in my backpack because I worry it will get broken. Now I can fit it in the purse with my Paperwhite, iPod, phone, glasses, notepad, wallet, and other crap.

Of course, that meant that my other purse (which I also got from the same friends) has to go in the suitcase.

message 85: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments Unless, you fill the other purse with other little stuff and can then carry two purses, a backpack, and a suitcase! :)

message 86: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments If I run out of room again, I might try that. :) So far, so good, though. I only have a few books to stick in there that I can arrange in a layer on the top of everything else. (Why did I even bring those?)

message 87: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments Umm, you're a reader?

message 88: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments While that is undeniably true, I really, really dislike reading paper books these days. It's physically difficult for me because of the issues I have with my hands, and my eyes ain't as great as they used to be either. (It's a contrast issue more than anything else, freakin' astigmatism does weird shit. Too much contrast is bad, too little contrast is bad... That's why it's soooo much easier to read on my paperwhite - that gentle, even and adjustable lighting without blinding me is amazing.)

But these particular books are ones I really, really want to eventually read, and they aren't available digitally. Believe me, I check all the time.

In fact, they are some of the ones listed in the first post of my 2017 thread.

message 89: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments Which is why it made sense (at the time) for you to take them with you.

I understand your pain with dealing with astigmatisms. To make matters worse, I'm now supposed to wear bifocals but I just can't get used to the suckers. I end up not wearing my glasses at all (which really isn't the best idea).

message 90: by Christa, The Renewed (last edited Jan 03, 2017 07:25PM) (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Fortunately, I really only need my glasses for driving or when I can feel my eyes needing them. I rarely drive these days, so I keep them on my desk for when I overdo it at the computer. :D They don't help one bit for reading, sadly.

My computer screens give me full control over brightness, contrast, etc. My Fire and my Paperwhite do also. But books? Books don't really have much room for adjustment.

My mom did give me a booklight that she wasn't using. One of those nice M-Edge Eluminators. It has a clip that will slide into the back of a paper book, so I'm hoping that will help me light the pages more evenly so I can read them more easily. Won't help my hands but it's a start.

Me too - most of the time I don't wear my glasses at all.

Orlok | 555 comments Christa wrote: "Fortunately, I really only need my glasses for driving or when I can feel my eyes needing them. I rarely drive these days, so I keep them on my desk for when I overdo it at the computer. :D They do..."

Exactly the same for me. Driving at night is the main reason I wear them, or sometimes on the work laptop when my eyes are tired.

message 93: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments I used to only wear my glasses for driving as well, but then my eyesight changed, and my ophthalmologist said I should wear them full time. Then my sight changed again and yay - bifocals.

message 94: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments I finished the book! Wooooo!

Of course, I have a case of "airplane flu" today so it might take me a while to actually write anything about it. LOL

message 95: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments Congrats! :D
Sorry about the flu though :(

message 96: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments DONE.
https://monkeynotowl.wordpress.com/20...

Also updated relevant post at beginning of this thread. And I love how we almost made it to 100 posts before I'd even finished one book. :D

message 97: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments That was great Christa!
Congratulations on completing your first read of 2017!
Like Panda, I'm excited for you to read more books so that I can see what you add next on your blog!

message 98: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Thank you! :)

I think after I get paid next week, I'm going to move to a full Wordpress site instead of the free version.
