I know the nook I'm looking for was published by ellora's cave between 2004-2010. I can remember the character names but the heroine is a shy girl who's got an unrequited love for the hero who happens to be her best friend/next door neighbor. she works as a painter and he works as an authors. He also has an unrequited love but for a girl from his hometown who has been married for years and sends him wedding invitations and announcement cards when she has kids. He gets drunk after one of her cards and ends up sleeping with the heroine who gets pregnant right then. He doesn't remember but finds out she's pregnant and decides he's better than a guy who he thinks won't take care of her and marries her without knowing he's the father.

Otherwise, in the "readers also enjoyed" section of that book, I found Her Best Friend's Lover by Shiloh Walker, which has the same 'drunk sex/pregnant heroine' theme. It is Ellora's Cove, and doesn't have professions mentioned in the synopsis, so that may be what you're looking for!

Dee, I think you're right, it's been a while, but that's the first book I thought of that fit the trope!

Brianna, I just read the Shiloh Walker book, and I'm pretty sure that's it - he's a children's book author, and she's an artist, and they do get married when he finds out she's pregnant (although he doesn't know he's the father).
