Yes Raag Darbari was good! I know you'll like it too.
Have you read any other book by Vikram Seth?

Other than Equal Music, I read A Suitable Boy
Though equal music was very good (I also hate romance genre by the way :P), but felt it was pale in comparison to ASB. Planning to read his other works too.

Didn't knew you read Chughtai too :) I've read a couple of them - Masooma; Jangli Kabootar
And have hoarded 3-4 of them this year to be read sometime next year.
If you like Manto, I'd recommend you to read - Dozakhnama : Jab Manto Hue Ghalib se RuBuRu (Please read the Hindi version or the Bengali version and avoid the English translation)

I read A Suitable Boy in school. Took me an year and an angry librarian. I also tried reading The Golden Gate but verse novel didn't go down well on me.
Chughtai's Lihaaf was in my syllabus. The teacher who taught me that paper is also a theatre artist who works on Manto and Chughtai.
The same teacher recommended Dozakhnama to me. I'll read it some day.

I've read excerpts from Nithalle ki Diary by Harishankar Parsai. It is excellent. I'm waiting to procure the book from the friend who had it. I tried searching for it in Daryaganj Sunday market but couldn't find it.

Getting taught from a theatre artist! This sounds so very exciting. Share any other recos from that teacher. Asking out of curiosity because of Dozakhnama reco.

Nithalle ki Diary I read on Kindle Unlimited. And I plan to read more essays by him.

November fared better than October. In spite of a very busy schedule, glad to steal half an hour a day... and hence read the below without context.

115. Tales from Firozsha Baag - ★★★★+
Gem of a read. Mistry is a fabulous writer. Highly recommended.

X. Hunkar (Hindi) - DNF at 25%
I need to do more homework before picking any other book by Dinkar ji.

116. Miss Laila, Armed and Dangerous - ★★½☆☆ (weekly group)
Read in Oct but forgot to update.

117. Decoding Bollywood: Stories of 15 Film Directors - ★★★☆☆
Picked this for the love of bollywood.

118. Preeti Katha - ★★★☆☆ (with wife)
Wife DNF'd after 75%. She found the conversations too philosophical and boring.

119. Bina Deewaron Ke Ghar - ★★★★☆ (with wife)
Wife - ★★★☆☆
We both liked it overall.

Sneaked through these 6 books in December.

120. Dushman Aur Dushman - ★★★★☆
Came to know of this author while buying his Sahitya Akademi winner - Dhai Ghar....and impulsively bought the short story collection. Didn't know I'd read this before Dhai Ghar... which seems to be a tome :|

121. The Picador Book Of Cricket - ★★☆☆☆
A book on cricket by Guha! Could it get better than this? But unfortunately I didn't turn out to be that cricket scholar who'd appreciate these classic rare articles.
Looking forward in 2018 to another cricket book by Guha sir - A Corner of a Foreign Field: The Indian History of a British Sport

122. Chitralekha - ★★★☆☆
Bought in 2016, similar case of Dushman aur Dushman.... wanted to read the Sahitya Akademi winner - Bhoole Bisre Chitra, impulsively bought this and read this before BBC... as that one is a big tome :|

123. If It’s Monday It Must Be Madurai: A Conducted Tour of India - ★★★★☆
Rarely happens when I read a book within a couple of days of buying it. This one turned out to be a delight :)

124. Stories of Your Life and Others - ★★★★+
All hail to the great Ted Chiang. I've become a fan of his works and will continue reading all of his books and articles.

125. A Flawed God - ★★☆☆☆
Another impulsive buy in which the only good thing was its cover and title. Will I ever judge a book again by its cover? Definitely YES! :D

Five of the above books were from my physical shelf..... paving way to continue reading more from physical shelf in 2018. (dely, you are the biggest inspiration for this!)

Just counted, and I've read 59 books from physical shelf (8 hardcovers + 51 paperbacks)
Almost 50% of total reads.

Its confirmed then - my Kindle addiction is gone :P

Hehe, I'm glad to help to "clean" the physical shelves of my friends :D

Next year I think I will read a lot of religious books. Will see if I will be an inspiration also with this!
