I think it's creepy crab mating behavior. The oversize claw is a mating device.ETA: it actually looks like he's catching some floating detritus and stuffing it in his mouth, if you look closely.

DING DING DING! CORRECT! Fiddler crabs, too, have been known to stab rivals to death using the larger claw as a weapon.The silver platter image was to indicate that that was how I was presenting my loyal readers with the obvious answer.
