How to Get Points

Once you are sorted into your respective houses, you will be able to start earning points for your Houses!

Starting January 2017, points can be gained through the activities described below. If new activities become available, I will comment on this thread with the point information.

1) Book of the Month (BOTM)
- Activity duration: 1 month
- Points earned upon completion: 20 points

2) Audiobook of the Month (AOTM)
- Activity duration: 1 month
- Points earned upon completion: 15 points
- Don't prefer audiobooks? Read the book instead to earn 10 points!

3) Quarterly Classic
- Activity duration: 3 months
- Points earned upon completion: 50 points

4) House Reading Challenge
- Activity duration: 1 year
- Points earned upon completion: 20 points

5) Bingo
- Activity duration: 2 weeks per bingo letter/number combination
- Points earned for a finished square: 15 points
- First person to get all 4 corners: 40 points
- First person to get BINGO: 50 points
- 2nd & 3rd people to get BINGO: 30 points

6) Foodie Book
- Activity duration: 1 month
- Points earned for finishing Foodie Book: 10 points
- Points earned for completing the featured recipe: 5 points
- Points earned for uploading picture of prepared recipe: 5 points

7) Going on a Journey
- Activity duration: 1 month
- Points earned for finishing Journey Book: 10 points
- First person to reach destination: 40 points
- 2nd & 3rd people to reach destination: 35 points
- 4th+ people to reach destination: 30 points
- Overachiever challenge (if applicable): 150 points

8) Crossword
- Activity duration: 1 year, with new crosswords monthly
- Points earned upon completion: 5 points

9) Movie/Book Tie-Ins
- Activity duration: 1 year, with new movie/book combo monthly
- Points earned for finishing selected book: 10 points
- Points earned for finishing selected movie: 5 points

So, clarifying question:

What exactly do you mean by first person to reach "destination". Do you mean the first person to finish the book?

First person to walk, run, jog, etc the number of miles for the first book stop. For this month, it is 27 miles. Next months will have a new book + new mileage!

10) Finish an activity book after the deadline? Comment on the activity thread, or send Sam a message, and earn 5 points!
*Note: If a bingo book is finished after the deadline, you will earn 5 points, but the square will NOT be marked off.

11) Finish a book not related to any Bookwarts activity? Send Sam a message and earn 2 points!

Hi All! Don't forget to let me know (either via message or posting on one of he discussion boards) when you finish books that are not tied to Bookwarts' activities, such as AOTM, BOTM, Foodie Book, etc. You get 2 points per book finished!

Sam, the mileage for the going on a journey book is collective I'm assuming? So can I just go for walks and keep track with my Fitbit or something until I hit the 21 miles this month, and then let you know?
