How many books are in your TBR (to be read list) ?

I have a modest 26 (and growing) books on my Goodreads TBR. My monster is my e-library, to which I keep adding books and not reading enough of them. I seem to treat it as a kind of TBR. For instance, I add samples of books so I don't forget them, but then when I see the number of books in my library, I become overwhelmed and don't know where to start.
So here's my idea:
1. Eliminate samples of books I'm not likely to read. This is to reduce the overwhelm of my e-library volume.
2. Read the books I own!
3. Don't buy new books I'm not planning to read immediately. No more padding my shelves, real or virtual, because a book looks or sounds interesting.

I'm totally in the same boat. My TBR pile is mostly virtual. An enormous mountain range of ebooks.
My main is to read the books I own.

I don't know the exact number I have TBR, however, I am kindle girl and my books are close to 4000. I know my list is over a 1000.I am pretty sure I will continue to add to them. I cannot resist a good premise coupled with an awesome book cover and title. Don't really want to so have accepted I will never catch up but I will always have something good to read.
As for my reading list, I set a number of books to read for my Goodreads challenge every year, and then try to keep it or exceed it. 2015 pledged 60 read 117. 2016 pledge 80 read 80 and may add 2 to 3 more before the year's end. I cut down reading time to devote more to my writing time.
2017 I will probably pledge 80 again and then try to exceed it. I do not like competing so will not be trying to win anything except my own satisfaction.
I will not be competing. Good luck to you all and thank you for the invitation. I plan to continue to do the Goodreads Challenge every year as I have been doing. I love books!!!

As it stands, I've read 77 books with 1317 in my TBR list. My reading efficiency would be roughly 6% for the entire year. I'm really hoping to boost that percentage in 2017.
But the overall goal to:
1. reduce this the TBR number without incessantly piling on tons of books.
2. Increase the amount of 'read books'.
Let's make it work folks!
