Tony S This is one hell of a book. It will undoubtedly become a classic on it release. I do not think I have read a book with such a storyline and one that keeps you hooked all the way through to see what happens next. Not being able to be able to put a book down is a term often said about a book but in this case it is totally justified. I do not want to give much away as it will spoil the plot but the narrative is based around the daughter of a female serial killer (a rare thing in itself and even rarer in a book). Though we do not hear much from the mother she is in her daughters head and the interactions are what makes this book interesting. I cannot recommend this book highly enough and it is a great read to start 2017.

Nguyen Chanh I have one regret: the reader is told almost everything at the very beginning: a serial killer got arrested after her crimes were reported to the police by her teenage daughter who got a new identity and a foster family, the father a trained psychologist.
The real suspense appears to be about the daughter, obsessed with her mother and bullied by the psychologist's jealous natural daughter, the same age as hers.
The mother's story is a horror one, of a lunatic who killed 11 children because her son, 11, had been "taken away" after he set fire to the post office in their village. The daughter's story is another horror one: she ended up killing the psychologist's daughter.
Another regret I have is about the narrative, so slow nothing seems to happen page after page, chapter after chapter. I also wished I knew more about the main characters, especially that of the mother whose portrayal is so sketchy, and also about the circumstances in which her son was taken away.
