Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments For 2016, we had folders for "protagonist with your same occupation" (The Job Folder) and "takes place in the state where you live" (The Home State Folder). This year, it's for the "recommended by a librarian" prompt.

We have dozens of members who are librarians. We have children's librarians, academic librarians, public librarians, school librarians and retired librarians! Each, of course, has their own unique expertise.

Rather than having a single thread as I first imagined, there are threads for specific genres: YA, fiction, nonfiction, sci-fi and romance. Post a request in the thread that fits your reading interests with as much information as you are interested in sharing. Our librarians will monitor these threads and pop in with their recommendations.

We recognize that some members may not have access to a library and others are uncomfortable asking strangers for help, our goal here is to create a collaborative environment in which we all help one another. As with the Job and State folders, if there is a genre that you are drawn to that doesn't fit the broad categories I've created, it's OK to open a thread for that genre in the Ask a Librarian folder. Many thanks to each of the librarians who have expressed an interest! I'm turning those threads over to your able hands. You can introduce yourself in the thread(s) that fit your expertise/reading interests. Doing so will allow you to turn on notifications for posts in that thread to help you monitor. Librarians: Please feel free to PM myself or Sara with any questions. We're happy to help and love talking to our fellow readers.
