Cameron Taton | 1 comments So, a book that I read about 10 years ago was about a virus/disease that changed a large portion of the males of the world into psychics that were not of the male or female gender. They started to refer to themselves a new name, and as a new race, which was the title of the book, and slowly started taking over the world by being better than the previous humans that inhabited the world.

It described the growth of the new race, and the changes of the various cultures as a single person traveled among the various areas. One point in it there was a sword dance, and they spoke of how more clothes made the body more alluring.

There were various erotic scenes but it was more like something that happens rather than being an erotic book. It was more about the rising of a new race, and the struggles of life.

I think that before the virus hit the human race was on the brink anyway, so the fall was inevitable. I can't seem to find it anywhere no matter how I search so I almost feel like it is something that doesn't exist anymore.

Cameron, was Wraeththu your book? It certainly has your basic premise in common.

No response but this sounds like the right book. Blurbs and reviewers wrote:

"This new breed is stronger, smarter, and far more beautiful than their parent race, and are endowed with psychic as well as physical gifts.

- sex is a big part of the culture of these people and as such mentions it often without dwelling on it in too lavish terms.

- This book is about evolution, the evolution of a mystical, hermaphroditic race.

- those who become hara (the name the hermaphrodites give themselves), were originally human males

- Mankind has lost. It is the final twilight of man.

- how the new race struggles to find its own identity without falling into the same behaviors that ruined mankind."
