Tina wrote: "Seems Dietrich Murder may have more in a series. Got to look into that one. Love Old Hollywood and a mystery, scandal to boot."Yes I was excited about this one. I love all the old movies and movie stars but it wasn't available in Kindle...some of the others in this series might be though, I didn't look.
Allison & PI's interested in this title: Thought I could find a current copy of Marlene D. mystery but learned it was pub'd in 1993 so I shopped Ammy offerings and bagged a Very Good condition hardcopy for 1 cent + S&H of course. Still the book will only cost about as much as a download copy when available. Check Ammy if so inclined. ;-)
I caved and ordered N. Marsh's Shroud, the Grace Holliday, M. Dietrich and Behind Closed Doors (not a cozy) books today. Christmas gift cards are dangerous and rarely returned. LOL Spent over $200. in stuff and still counting. Books and stuff and goodies all the way, oh, what fun it is to avoid parking, crowds shopping the internet today! ! Hey!
We have, LM. See previous postings asking for hosts. I offered to take on either Grace Holliday or M. Dietrich title(s). I also might open The Den for non-cozy mysteries, thrillers, suspense titles.
Oh, that would be good of you, Nicole! We'll give it a day or so and see what happens. Or claim it right now. Thanks so much! Anyone?
Ordered my books over day after Christmas shopping spree. Thankfully it was online as those malls were pretty crazy to my understanding.
As for Marlene D. title, if majority is not able to secure title...well, we'll see how it goes. I'm getting a used copy and will read it either way. Keep forgetting about checking titles that are hard to locate, out of print. Makes a big difference on participation. Still, if it's a good title, I will do my best to hunt it down. ;-)

Hi P.I.s I'm going to join in the Ngaio Marsh read. I used to be a big fan of her books and read them all over 30 years ago. Sadly I don't have Singing in the Shrouds in my collection so I'm going with the Audible version and will be listening to the book. I'm looking forward to revisiting her books.
Anastasia, glad you are home for the holidays! Good to read and chat with you again. My copy is en route...or so I'm told. ;-) Have to check on Aunt Ammy to make sure she's shipped my order.
Glad to see you here Anastasia. I haven't read any Marsh books at all so am looking forward to this one.
Looks like my books are taking a slow boat from China. Then again, shippers usually project a more distant delivery date then necessary. But anytime you PI's want to get started is fine with me. I'll be along soon.
Nicole wrote: "I'm in for Marsh. I'll start it up as soon as I look to see how many chapters there are, etc."YAY! Are you going to host the Marsh book discussion?
I'm joining in. It will be a reread for me although I read it over 30 years ago. In the days before the internet and computers I used to keep track of the books I read in a notebook and I have it marked at read.
I'm going to join in the Marsh read as well. Looking forward to this discussion and hope for an exciting one!
Nicole wrote: "I'll start the Marsh discussion today if nobody has any objections! Stay tuned!"I have no objections! How many chapters will we be discussing?
There are 12 chapters so I guess 3 chapters per week with a few days left over at the end of the month for the stragglers!
No objections here other than the one which informs me that my book won't arrive until Friday. :-/ Seems Ammy's slacking now that Christmas rush is over. I placed my order the 26th. and they are just shipping today.
I'll just have to be patient. Maybe tuck into the sample pages if there are any available. Carry on PI's!

Has anyone started reading Death Takes a Holiday? I'm about 1/3 the way through it and a bit confused since I didn't read the previous books in the series. I hope it starts making sense soon!

I read so fast (I get up waaayyyy too early in the morning) that by the time we're all reading the same book I've already forgotten what's going on and can't participate in the discussion. This year I'm gonna try to wait til we're all on the same page so to speak so I can remember what's going on in the story, who the characters are and maybe join in the discussions more.
I did have trouble though with the first chapter or so...I didn't understand what was going on. Think I'll just start over when we're ready to start the discussion.
And here I am, waiting, waiting for the dumb book to arrive. It's not that I waited 'til last minute. Just seems delivery is ultra slow now.
I'll jump in ASA I can. Figured to launch discussion mid month to let main read get going but I can start day after ASA book arrives.

I'll have to be done reading by the time my Kindle Unlimited subscription runs out but I'll try to remember what happened!
You're not going to renew your subscription Nicole? I really like having mine because most of the time I can read books instead of buying them, because half the time my library has to order the books that I want from other libraries and then I'm at their mercy as to when they want to send them to mine.
I just got the Kindle Unlimited last month and I love it so far. Finding lots and lots of books I would have bought that now I can borrow! And some that I would have skipped I now figure why not try them since they're free to borrow?
That's the way I see it also Allison. I don't mind spending the 10 dollars a month for it. It's cheaper than buying the books individually
