Gone Girl
I recently finished the book Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. This book is about a couple and how the wife apparently goes “missing” but you soon find out that the wife, Amy Dunne, has been plotting her disappearance for a couple of years after she had found out her husband, Nick Dunne, had been cheating on her. Amy Dunne is a very smart woman who thrives on proving a point to those who do her wrong. Amy was a very successful author who had wrote a series of books that were called “Amazing Amy” this is why when she had disappeared the media had heard about it right away and why it had so much national coverage. When she went missing her husband, Nick Dunne, was the prime suspect. When Amy had disappeared it was their 5th anniversary and every year on their anniversary Amy sets up a scavenger hunt for her husband all throughout the small town. The special thing Amy did with this years scavenger hunt was a bunch of evidence that she plotted on Nick that made it look like to the police and to the media that Nick had committed the murder. As things started to get too much to handle for him he went out and got the best lawyer in the United States, Tanner Bolt. As Tanner gets to know Nick and his side of the story he begins to believe that Nick is innocent and he believes Nick that he is getting framed by his wife. As Nick started to get more and more into depth with the story they really felt like they had a solid case to bring up. Out of nowhere Amy shows up at Nick’s house covered in blood claiming that she got raped by an ex of hers. But she really killed him and covered herself in his blood that way she could go back to Nick and live the life she had before. In the end Nick decided to stay with Amy because she had outsmarted him by telling him of how much of a prick he would look like by leaving his wife that had been “kidnapped” and raped. I would recommend this book to people who like to get surprised out of nowhere.
