I'm not sure if they're any good. I just don't want to waste my time. Thanks!

I love them. They do deal with some of the sadder sides of life (two about single unwed mothers, etc) but have no cursing and no graphic sex. My favorites:
I don't care for ANGST-filled books like those by Nicholas Sparks, and Karen Kingsbury. I think they are depressing 'downers' so I avoid such books/authors.
The Tutor's Daughter is one of my favorites. The others were ok. A little too much drama for me to recommend, particularly as you say you don't like angst-filled books. Try Sherry Lynn Ferguson:The Honorable Marksley
I have read most of her books and enjoyed them.
This is a link to her GoodReads Author page. I can't remember which of her books was my favorite, but short, sweet, and seemed almost period. https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
You could also try some Georgette Heyer if you haven't tried her.
Her books are o.k. but she is planning to branch out into the secular market with more explicit books so be careful with new ones. Past books are o.k. if you like detailed historical fiction with a hint of mystery. In historical fiction, I prefer the Gresham Chronicles --The Widow of Larkspur Inn by Lawanna Blackwell is #1 in the series and may still be free for Kindle readers. The third in the series,The Dowry of Miss Lydia Clark is really funny as well as being well written and interesting.
I love her books, too. I've read eight. Lady Maybe was different from her other books that I've read; it was rather sensual. It was published by a secular publisher, unlike all of her other books, which were published by Bethany House.
