For this Weeks theme we will be asking that you read...

a book that has been written by a New to You Author. Yes, that Dan Wells book that's been sitting on your self for some time needs to be read at some point. Why not now?

I will be reading The Diabolic (The Diabolic, #1) by S.J. Kincaid for this one!

YaY! It seems like it was a good week of reading for you and for everyone else as well. I know that I finished two books last week myself and here I am almost finished with a book today. I shall hope to get to my new to you author soon. I picked Lauren Oliver. I hope I like what I've picked out to read.

Wendy (wmaresca) I just finished Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally and this author is new to me. I think I might try reading a few more in this series. Very cute series.

I have seen that book before but I have not picked it up. I don't know why. I have probably not read the synopsis yet. I may have to. Glad you finished this week's theme already.

I like Light and Fluffy reads. Sometimes you just need one or several of those.

I started reading Replica (Replica, #1) by Lauren Oliver but I've also started reading Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1) by Kerri Maniscalco . I'll probably finish Replica before the week is out but Stalking Jack the Ripper is turning out really good and is a page turner.

Wendy (wmaresca) I just read another new to me author Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly such a great book I am recommending this book to everyone. I think all women should read this book. So good. I can't say enough about it.

Did you do a review of it?

message 22: by Christina (new)

Christina (cmb1987) Finished Children of Eden by Joey Graceffa . I really wanted to like it. The idea behind the book was great. But there were so many things that put me off. The author had a bad tendency to tell and not show. Stuff seemed to come kind of out of nowhere sometimes. Stuff didn't seem to get resolved, which is even more off-putting since this appears to be a stand alone. But the biggest problem I had was that it almost seemed like the author used this book to put all their opinions out there, so you would no exactly how they felt about certain topics. Which would be fine if they were woven into the story well enough that they didn't come across like, "this is how I feel! I want you know my opinion on this." In this one book I believe I was able to easily determine the author's opinion on religion, homosexuality, guns, fossil fuels, climate change, people who eat meat, the government and mankind's overall treatment of the planet. It was mentioned. Often. And it was exhausting.

I'll post tomorrow at some point what it was that I finally finished. It's so late right now and I started a few books this past week.

I finished it with a manga. I won't lie. I just didn't get into Replica. I will try again with the other story first.

Yes actual first real review I think I have ever done. Not sure how great it is at explaining the book. It is a WWII historical fiction, but actually does have two characters in the book that are not fiction but the real people.

R.J. it is a WWII novel that is fiction but some characters in the book are the real people from then. Was about an all women's concentration camp and what went on there. So good. I highly recommend reading it. The things these women went through.

I may take a look at it.

message 31: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wmaresca) I think you guys will really like it. It is sad but I learned so much I never knew from reading this. The women in this story were such strong women also.

I like strong women characters. It proves that women are so much more than what they are made out to be now a days.
