Rose Hathaway is a dhampir, half-vampire and half-human, who is training to be a guardian at St Vladimir's Academy along with many others like her. There are good and bad vampires in their world: Moroi, who co-exist peacefully among the humans and only take blood from donors, and also possess the ability to control one of the four elements - water, earth, fire or air; and Strigoi, blood-sucking, evil vampires who drink to kill. Rose and other dhampir guardians are trained to protect Moroi and kill Strigoi throughout their education. Along with her best friend, Princess Vasilisa Dragomir, a Moroi and the last of her line, with whom she has a nigh unbreakable bond, Rose must run away from St Vladimir's, in order to protect Lissa from those who wish to harm the princess and use her for their own means.

R.J. Abell | 682 comments I know I'm probably in the minority, but I actually enjoyed the movie. Zoey was a kick--- Rose, I loved her energy...I was pleased with the casting! Danila definitely wasn't a disappointment ;)! I am bummed that they decided to cut the rest of the movies. It was a great series, but a couple of things bugged me...the romance was drawn out a bit for me. I mean it's like you had to wait to basically three books in and then they're separated again?! Ah, but it's still a great series and I enjoyed it.

Oh someone else who loves it too.

R.J. Abell | 682 comments Yes, I do. I bought the movie without seeing it, and I've watched it several times :). I've only read the series once though...they should have totally continued with the movies.

R.J. Abell | 682 comments Umm....yeah! He was perfect...they did so good casting! Why did they have to cut it?!

I have no clue maybe we should research this. I think part of the problem was the lack of advertising for it and the trailers they did release for it made it seem stupid.

R.J. Abell | 682 comments I guess...it's lame lol. Just like beautiful creatures...i know the books were amazing and they changed the movir from the book, but it was still good.

They truly did not advertise Beautiful Creatures enough. It was like one weekend I saw the trailer the next it was in theaters. I enjoyed it. I didn't love it but I enjoyed it.

It is, I finally got the courage to buy books written by each of the authors individually.

R.J. Abell | 682 comments I haven't yet....

I have not yet read them but I have bought them.

R.J. Abell | 682 comments Correction: I thought you were talking about beautiful creatures....and not reading Stohl and Garcia individual works. I haven't read anything by them individually.

I have read all of the vampire academy books and enjoyed them...my only issue was that it took three books for a relationship to break through between Rose and Dimitri only to have it ripped apart again...

I loved all of the Vampire Academy books. I think we all knew deep down the relationship was there which is why it may have taken three books. The moment he calls her Rosa rather than Rose you know there are feelings there. There was no denying that. I did dislike that they were torn apart and of course it took forever for them to kind of like get to the end of the book and be together in the last one. I was scream at the book that they were being stupid. Of course after finishing Bloodlines I wish she would go back to the Vampire Academy World and expand upon some things that were left open-ended.

R.J. Abell | 682 comments I have not read bloodlines yet !

You must go read them! They aren't really as fast paced as Vampire Academy but I still think they are a great read especially once you get to like book four or five. I cannot remember.

R.J. Abell | 682 comments I don't know I've never been one to get into spin offs I know they're the same writer and they're usually good...but I'm just not into them. One of my friends keeps nagging at me to get over the spin off thing...lol

I want to nag now. Because the rumor that has been running around is that she is going back to Rose and Demetri since the bomb that was dropped at the end of the last book of Bloodlines. It was a big bomb. HUGE!!! I was not prepared for it however, I squealed like a little girl when I read it.

R.J. Abell | 682 comments What?! This is big time :)

See you must read now. lol

message 24: by R.J. (new)

R.J. Abell | 682 comments No, wait-what? I'm confused. Is she writing another book with Rose and Dimitri, or are they just in the the last book? I'm sorry, I thought you meant she was going to write another book with them. If she did that would be awesome.
