Jane Jago | 1015 comments The wind is calling in the pines
Whispering my name
Come outside and play he says
It’s high time for a game
He steals a passing cyclist’s hat
And laughing tosses high
He ruffles up the feathered clouds
And irritates the sky
The wind taps on the casement glass
Cries “Come, why won’t you come?”
And throws the rain against the house
It’s his idea of fun
The wind is in the garden now
He’s whistling through the gate
I’m putting on my boots and hat
I’m calling “Wind, please wait”.

Jane Jago | 1015 comments May your Christmas be happy and jolly
May you not prick your thumb on the holly
May you sit by the fire
With all you desire
And may you never feel melancholy

Jane Jago | 1015 comments Today I tripped over a memory
A longed-for voice and smile
That moment meant the world to me
And it made me stop for a while
It was as if he spoke my name
From beyond the veil
His voice it sounded just the same
Assuring me I’d not fail
I felt as if I held his hand
And walked with him a while
I knew he’d always understand
As through my tears I smiled
Today I tripped over a memory
Of the first man in my life
And being his daughter taught to me
All I need to be a wife

Jane Jago | 1015 comments My love is like a grouchy bear
That someone asked to dance
My love he really does not care
For kisses or romance

Yet what’s left of his hair is fair
And very blue his eyes
And he will be about somewhere
Till all the bars gang dry

Till all the bars gang dry of beer
And all the wine is gone
Yes I will love you still my dear
And bore you with a song

So goodnight, my friend goodnight
And sleep now for a while
And in the morn I’ll look a fright
But you’ll still make me smile

Jane Jago | 1015 comments To be fair. Saying a new book is born is a bit of a misnomer. Might be closer to say it clawed its way out of its cage and went feral on me.

However. It’s up for preorder.

My third collection of short fiction and verse.

Jane Jago | 1015 comments I have found a thing. A warm hug for writers. A helping hand out of plotholes. A rolling critique service. All at incredibly reasonable rates.

Jane Jago | 1015 comments Today we walked the early path
The cloud was thick and low
A greyish mist sat in the grass
And muffled water’s flow
As we strolled I tuned my ear
To noisy drinking sounds
Where the dog lapped water clear
That bubbled from the ground
And when the murk rose from the beck
A drizzle took its place
That silvered the mane about dog’s neck
And gently bathed my face
