Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Goodreads has a summary of the year. I'm quite curious - - what was your average rating? How about the highest rated book you read on Goodreads? What else should we share?

My average rating was 3.7.

My highest rated book I read this year was The Nightingale which interestingly didn't crack my personal top 10.

The most popular book I read was Dark Places. The least popular was The Lady in the Van: And Other Stories (mediocre and deserves its lack of popularity).

And my self selected reading achievement of the year was reading the most pages . . .! Which is good that I have even that because I totally fell down on the challenge front. On my fact.

Karin | 9218 comments Where is the summary for the year?

message 3: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12916 comments Most popular book I read was Outlander. Also the longest. Highest rated might have been Small Great Things. Didnt catch my average rating.

message 4: by Karin (new)

Karin | 9218 comments I found it. It's a link put as a banner on top of your books page. I will come back and edit this if my final reads of the year change this in any way (I have 2 books I'll be finishing today, and a few more I'll be reading before the year is done).

Well, it turns out I had a great year for reading, since my average rating was 3.4, which brought my all time average up from a 3.17 to a 3.21.

My longest book read was 1136 pages, my shortest only 64 (poetry book).

Highest rated book on GR was not the best book, but was The Wood's Edge; I suspect that was partly because it's labelled Christian, so didn't get as wide of an audience. I gave it 4 stars and don't plan to read this author again. Not my cup of tea (her writing).

Most popular To Kill a Mockingbird

Least popular "I come from the valley" (obscure and really not for everyone; I gave it 2 stars)

Finished books I have read 38,873 pages and 116 books (I expect that to change to >120).

Thanks. It's been a good year with no reading slumps and far too much waiting time for my teens.

message 8: by annapi (last edited Dec 14, 2016 07:22AM) (new)

annapi | 5505 comments My average was 3.8. However, it says I read 107 books, and I know I have read 113, so I must've missed reviewing a few. My goal every year is 150 so I'm not doing too well on it, but I'm ok with that. Total pages read was 36,185.

The most popular I read was Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (593,182); least popular was one of my non-fiction 5-star reads, Fatal Storm (only 12 other people read it!). Highest rated on GR was Magic Binds.

Longest was 871 pages (Legends of Australian Fantasy), shortest was a short story at 21 pages, When a Child is Born. Average length 351 pages.

Jenni Elyse (jenni_elyse) Well, as you all know, I've struggled with reading this year, but here's my info:

So far, I've read 23 books at a total of 6,175 pages. My shortest book was 128 pages and the longest was 544 pages.

The most popular book I read this year was Little Women. My average rating is 3.5. The highest rated book on Goodreads I read this year was Walking Dead, Vol 3.

Here's my link: https://www.goodreads.com/user/year_i...

message 10: by Ellen (last edited Dec 15, 2016 09:13AM) (new)

Ellen | 3511 comments I've read 101 books for a total of 31,538 pages. Average rating is 3.7.

Longest Book - Under the Dome at 1,074 pages
Shortest Book - Death of a Salesman at 139 pages
(I do believe this is wrong since I read And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer and it's only about 80 pages)

The most popular book I read was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2
The least popular was The Number We End Up With: A Novel, read by a mere 62 people.

The highest rating on GR was The Wrong Side of Goodbye.

message 11: by Rachel N. (new)

Rachel N. | 2241 comments So far I've read 79 books but this will likely go up by at least 4 more before the end of the year. I've read 28, 368 pages. Longest book Outlander, shortest Nelson Mandela's Favorite African Folktales. Most popularAll the Light We Cannot See, least popularDeadly Secrets on the St. Johns, which is an older book in a mystery series, not a bad book but not great either. My average rating is 3.3.

message 12: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments I love infographs and stuff like this!

I've read 66 books so far this year. My goal was only 50, so this is great. This is by far the most I've read in a year probably ever. It's all thanks to audiobooks. Total page count 21, 897.

Average Rating- 3.7. I'd say that's pretty good!

Longest Book- The Goldfinch at 773 pages.
Shortest Book- The Grownup at 64 pages.

Most popular book- The Diary of a Young Girl
Least popular book- We're Not Sixteen Anymore: A Baby Boomer's Adventures with Online Dating. Only 14 readers. Makes sense- it was an obscure ARC freebie for a review. The author actually e-mailed me a thank you personalized response to my review.

Highest rated book was In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom. This didn't make my top 10 due to it's depressing nature- but was definitely a 5 star read.

Let's make 2017 even better! I'm definitely upping my reading goals.

message 13: by Sara (new)

Sara (mootastic1) | 770 comments Great info!

So far I have read 44 books and 13, 268 pages, with an average rating of 3.6 stars. My shortest book was The Midnight Watch at 53 pages and the longest was The Bone Labyrinth at 608. Funny that both are from the same series. My average book length was 302 pages. The most popular book I read was The Martian (which I hated) and the least popular Wit's End (also hated). The book I read with the highest rating on Goodreads was The Girl Who Raced Fairyland All the Way Home at 4.53 stars (deservedly so).

message 14: by Nicole D. (new)

Nicole D. | 1573 comments i'm not doing reading yet!

message 15: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tstan) | 1261 comments Mine is way off, since I kept track on Shelfari, and the dates that I read the books didn't transfer over. Actually, lots of books didn't transfer properly, either. Pretty sure I didn't read anywhere near the number of dirty books Goodreads said I'd read!
It says I've read 104 books, when my count is actually 226 so far.
The most popular was Lolita, and the least popular was Tristan und Isolde by Wagner (for good reason...)
My average rating was 3.9- it's been a good reading year!

message 16: by Ladyslott (new)

Ladyslott | 1880 comments Anita wrote: "Goodreads has a summary of the year. I'm quite curious - - what was your average rating? How about the highest rated book you read on Goodreads? What else should we share?

It's December 13th so I have about 18 more days and can probably finish another 3-5 books. So far:

I have read 99 books

My average rating was 3.9.

My highest rated book I read this year was Homegoing, which is on my Top Ten.

The most popular book I read was Cinder which I really enjoyed.

The least popular was The Lufthansa Heist, which didn't surprise me. It was a crime that occurred in the 80's and I read it for the Shelfagories "a book set in your home town". Most people might remember it from the movie Goodfellas, but I don't know that too many people would really be that interested anymore.

I read 36, 310 pages.

And my self selected reading achievement of the year was reading 29 different books for the 29 Shelfagories challenge.

message 17: by LibraryCin (last edited Dec 13, 2016 05:35PM) (new)

LibraryCin | 11684 comments I have read 141 books (my spreadsheet tells me 140, so not sure where the discrepancy is... I also expect to read at least 5 more) for 45,799 pages (average 342 p/bk). Shortest book = 32 pages (a picture book) and longest = 1104 (Voyager by Gabaldon).

Most popular at GR = To Kill a Mockingbird.
Least popular = More Prairie Doctor / Lewis Draper - this is expected, as it was self-published in the small town I grew up in (and Dr. Draper was one of the doctors there, whom I remember.)

Highest rated on GR - Locke & Key. Vol. 3. Crown of Shadow / Joe Hill.

ETA: My average rating was 3.4 stars, but that should be taken with a grain of salt, as I often use .5 stars, which I always mark here rounded-down.

message 18: by ~*Kim*~ (last edited Dec 13, 2016 06:06PM) (new)

~*Kim*~ (greenclovers75) My most popular book read was The Girl on the Train, over a million people read it. My least popular was Death by Chick lit, with just over 300 reads. Quite a difference.

My longest book was 479 pages and my shortest was 159.

My average rating was 4 stars.

I like Goodread's encouragement, though. I have 14 books left to hit my goal, and 18 days to do it. Goodreads thinks I can do it. LOL! "There are still 18 days left! You can do it!"

message 20: by Denizen (new)

Denizen (den13) | 1138 comments What a fun page to visit. I had seen the small banner but wasn't moved to click on it. Thanks to the PBT'ers who brought to my attention!

The quick stats:
Ave rating 3.8
# of books read 56 (close enough to have hopes of hitting my goal of 60 - shorter books are floating to the top of my reading list;-)
Pages read: 19,943
Average length: 356 pages (this stat surprised me)

My shortest book read Between the World and Me at 152 pages

The longest book read The Goldfinch at 773 pages

Most popular book read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. (I enjoyed it but don't plan to continue on with the series.)

Least popular book read A Cancer Companion: An
Oncologist's Advice on Diagnosis, Treatment, and Recovery

Highest rated book A Cancer Companion: An Oncologist's Advice on Diagnosis, Treatment, and Recovery. It has a five star rating but, alas, only one reader - me. I do highly recommend it to anyone who has cancer and their family and caretakers. The chapters are broken down to topics so it's easy to cherry pick what you find relevant.

Jennifer Pope (jenjunum) | 902 comments I love looking at this at the end of the year. I'm not done reading either. In August I upped my goal from 52 to 75. I've read 66, I'm still attempting to make it.

message 22: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments I love seeing all these updates! I wish we could share the end of the year stuff here in our groups like we can share it on Facebook . . .maybe we can, and I'm just missing it. Let's see what happens if I try to share the link. I want to see ALL of my PBT friends' graphics, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that.

I saw someone on my regular feed "share" it, but I'm not sure how to here. I tried the "share" button and I think it shared it on my update feed.

Edit- I think I figured it out.
Here is my Year in Books

"YOURGRNUMBER" is the number that appears on your profile url- I think it's like a goodreads membership number. Also, I had to insert spaces so the directions didn't lead to a link- so if you're copy pasting make sure to delete the spaces.

Regina Lindsey | 1005 comments Interesting:

My highest rated book on GR was The Hiding Place, by which I was underwhelmed. The most popular book I read was The Pillars of the Earth, again a bit underwhelmed.

A whopping 89 other people read Harry S. Truman: A Life

message 30: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) | 699 comments I read 124 books (not actually) but close. I did read a lot of books this year, well over 100. I think the 124 isn't accurate as it contains 1 to 2 cookbooks (which I've probably did read most of) and a book for work on psychiatric medications which I use everyday but not reading from front to back.
My highest rated book on GR was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was read by the most people on GR.

My average rating was 3.9. I read a lot of great books this year. It really was a great year. I also probably rated books too high this year but I was really enjoying reading this year.

My book that was read by the fewest people was The Big Book of Pressure Cooker Recipes by Pamela Rice Hahn. 18 people. It really is a great book and has a lot of options for nonmeat eating people.

I used to do a lot of pressure cooking, but I had a friend who was severely injured when her cooker exploded. I've been afraid to use one since. It's too bad because I stopped eating meat a year ago and am always on the lookout for good meatless recipes.

I can't wait to see you hit your 100!

message 39: by Susie (new)

Susie I have read 82 books so far this year, and have about five that I am part way through. I may hit 90 by the end of the year, although it is hard to read much with all that is going on at the time of the year. My goal was originally 30 as I was going to make it the year of the long book, but then I got sick of long books! I updated it to 52, and then again to 70, and then again to 80 I think? It has been a great reading year for me. The addition of both PBT and audiobooks have enriched my reading life immensely.

The shortest book I read was Away from Herand the longest was The Goldfinch.

My average book length was 374 pages.

My most popular read was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with over 2 million other readers! My least popular was The Inflatable Woman, a graphic novel that I enjoyed.

My average rating was 4.2. I think I am too generous! I did have several exceptional reading experiences this year, some that I will remember forever like A Little Life, The Signature of All Things, and The Goldfinch.

My highest rated book was one from the How to Train Your Dragon series, How to Fight a Dragon’s Fury.

I was busy talking and didn't register that the pressure cooker was difficult to open so, yeah, had a bit of an explosion. The only burns I had were where a couple of potatoes smacked me in the face. I went to the emergency room and got burn cream that worked great. Do I need to mention that my ceiling was a total mess?

I can tell apart the two Jen P's, unless the photos get flipped and the daughter quickly grows older. It took me the longest time to separate out booknblues, book concierge, blueberry, and JGrace, because of the bird photos. The longer I hang around PBT, the easier it gets.
