Suckers & Rogues is - well - not selling like hotcakes. It is, however, selling better than I've seen any of my work sell. That's all I'm saying for now.

Meanwhile, I've got about ten thousand words on a rough draft for the next novel. I'm calling it "Jungle Love".

Here's a poorly written blurb for what I have in mind:

"Fifty-year-old reality show contestant Tom Ryan has returned from Ghana, the filming for the show has finished. For Tom, however, this is only the beginning. Formerly a meat and potatoes kind of man, he finds he now can only stomach rice and fruit. His bed no longer comfortable, Tom has moved to a tent in his backyard, which he shares with his new pet ape. His wife, Debbie, remains tolerant and makes every attempt to understand her husband's changes, until the day comes when another former contestant finds her way to Tom's home, asking to move in. Twenty-year-old Hannah may be the straw that breaks the camel's back, and Tom's marriage."

Yes, this one will be a lot lighter than S&R. Probably little profanity, sexual talk, etc. too. It's kinda weird going from a heavy R rating to almost a G rating, but... that's how I roll.

I'm going to learn how to do paperbacks. I will.

You (and other betas) might be interested to know that "Jungle Love" is a spin-off (not a sequel) of "Suckers & Rogues". Even though Tom (you knew him as Kevin) had a girlfriend in "Suckers" and Debbie was mooning over Ben, I kinda always felt Tom and Debbie would be a great couple. So, this is their story about them all growed up.

It's at least two songs, and yes, I love both and, yes, they both inspired the title of this book.

One is by The Time, the other by The Steve Miller Band.

I normally would never put out a new edition of an older story or book. When I reread my work, if I'm no longer happy with it, I unpublish it and walk away.

Boo! is the exception. I reread it recently and was thoroughly embarrassed at how bad it was. The original is no longer available. I did some heavy, heavy edits and now have a second edition available:

It's been a year and a half since we visited Noah City. Let's grab a booth at Corner Cafe and see what's going on.

I have TWO new short stories out today. Both examine aspects of small town gossip.

Strangers

Waitress Trudy Crystal assumes today is going to be another regular day down at Corner Cafe. Boog wants the usual biscuits and double gravy. Elma Dodge orders a plain English muffin and a poached egg. And John Brookes? Well, John has always been an oddball and wants huckleberry pie.

When the patrons of Corner Cafe notice The Strangers among them, the usual talk of weather and farming turns to gossip. Who are these people? What business have they in Noah City? Everyone has a theory. Are they spies from Bella's Diner downtown? Are they on the lam? Are they harbingers of bad luck? Trudy finds every theory more ridiculous than the last.

Noah City Iowa is abuzz when Mayor Garland Carter is accused of rape by a woman from his past.

Meanwhile, fifteen-year-old Sarah Adams is trying to get on with her own life, attempting to get the attention of aloof Dylan Wickes, avoiding the attention of macho Hunter Ulm, and trying to learn the ropes of her new job down at the local Dairy Fairy. Sarah can't help but notice the chaos growing around her as the accusations continue to fly against the mayor and her fellow townspeople grow more and more adamant that their local hero is innocent of the charges.

Hi Wanjiru, I don't think so. For free it needs to be on Select, I believe. You can lower the price to $.99 if you lower the royalty payment on it.
