Can you still get regular a Kindle (non-Paperwhite)? (I'm not sure they have them anymore.) Did you try turning the light off completely?

Back to square one. The person who got the migraine gets them from flashing lights, so I'm guessing it's the flicker frequency of the lighting, but can't be sure. If only I could find one with the same lighting, etc as my smart TV, or even my computer monitor (but the TV is better) ..."
Maybe the Kindle HDX or Kindle Fire would work for you. They are more like iPads, more like a TV screen.

I much prefer reading on my Kindle. Never without a book without the weight of carrying one - especially when I travel which is often...

Yes, I'm thinking about that. I'm hoping someone will let me try reading theirs first. Also, I will try the paperwhite one more time in case it was a coincidence (it's possible I was going to get one anyway from something else). But not this one since it's not 3G.
