Well, one thing I don't prefer in a mystery unlike a lot of mysteries and psychological thrillers written today are loads of violence, profanity, and sex in order to be realistic. I read to escape and though there are things in books that can be realistic and close to reality, as a whole I want to be entertained, to think and ultimately to escape from the world.

I have started amassing their books as I find them and since I know there won't be any more, I can start reading. My sister-in-law was a real fan of the Lavenes and recommended them. I am not too enthused about the trend where an author dies or ages and someone else takes over the detective or the series. Has anyone found a case where the new writer has taken over and quality hasn't suffered?
