SOLVED. Looking for urban fantasy - female PI with psychic skills. [s]

This is urban fantasy - if there is any romance in it, it's not a main part of the story I don't think - I've got a feeling that in later books there are hints of a love triangle but I might be imagining that. I read this book about 2 years ago - its part of a series.

There is a female private investigator, there was some kind of event years ago and it left her in a coma, when she awoke, she had a variety of psychic powers but isn't that great at controlling them.

In one of the next books, she gets turned into a dog for most of the book (sounds so weird when I write it . . . ) and I think one of her potential love interests may have a garage?!

This bit may have come from an entirely different book but I think she has 2 step brothers and doesn't get along with her step mother but after she saves the boys, the step mother thaws a bit . . .

Sound familiar to anyone?
