Sci-fi (week two)

As I get farther in the book Ivy´s feelings are getting stronger for Bishop, her husband. One day he took her on a hike to a secluded river and they got to know each other a little better. Bishop tells Ivy,”I'm not cut out to be a president. I´ve known that since I was young. But my father doesn't see it or doesn't want to see it.¨(page 125) He expresses to her how he thinks some of the things his father does he doesn't agree with and tells Ivy she should think the same of her father. Finally getting to be able to hear a different side of the story, she feels conflicted on whether following her father's plan is the right thing to do. But then Bishop showed a different side of him that Ivy had not seen before. One day Bishop was helping the neighbors with their roof. Bishop pushed the other husband off the roof, forcing him to divorce with his wife because he was beating her up. Ivy thought to herself¨I wonder whether the other parts of Bishop he's never shown to me are as dark and dangerous as the current I sensed today pulsing beneath his calm exterior.¨ ( page 163) Although she thinks this she is also grateful for him to do that so the wife can be free from her awful husband. I think Ivy and Bishop are a good pair because they feel the same way about the government and how it feels like they are trapped. So now, both of them are helping the people that get released to the other side, because they did a crime, to stay alive by giving them food and other resources. I predict that they are going to try to run away together and break off from both of their families.

This seems like the book shows these two people as completely different and separate, but when you get down to their beliefs and personality they are so much alike. They seem like they would be a great couple but them being so much alike in character might cause an issue down the road.
