"Bundy was regarded as handsome and charismatic by many of his young female victims, traits he exploited to win their trust. He typically approached them in public places, feigning injury or disability, or impersonating an authority figure, before overpowering and assaulting them at more secluded locations." Wikipedia
I always wonder if I would be sucked in by someone like him.

There was a mini-series of the book. It starred Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal. It was actually pretty good - this was when Farrah had turned to more dramatic roles- she was especially good in The Burning Bed. She was nominated for Emmy's in both roles.

Aint't that the truth! From all accounts he was incredibly good looking and a smooth talker. I used to be obsessed when this story was being covered by the media.

Huh - Farrah Fawcett in the Ted Bundy movie! I'm sure she was also the mom in the Small Sacrifices movie!

One of my very good friends is a professor of criminology. When he lived in Florida he had the opportunity to interview Bundy about a year before he was executed. I remember Paul telling me, "Tessa, he was SOOoo charming and charismatic! So likeable. Even knowing everything he did, I was ready to let him date my daughter!"
Like many psychopaths, Bundy was exceedingly charming, very smart, and easily wormed his way into people's confidence.
Frightening, indeed!
Since I've been so obsessed with murders of late, and they talk about this book all the time, I had to read it. I was SUCKED. IN. I listened to the audio, and the narrator wasn't great but I couldn't stop. And days after I finished I was still thinking about it, and putting every Ann Rule book I could on hold at the library. Can you imagine being friends with this dude? Yikes. Incidentally, I knew the name but knew nothing about him.
Anyway, if you are interested in True Crime at all, this is a must. Fascinating and well told.
By the way, for the most part this stuff doesn't give me nightmares. :)
